LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

They talked about all the relationship issues between LeBron with Kyrie and Love, makes me think that other players talk to LeBron about playing with him then make some call and think twice about it. Both Rondo and Lance were overpaid to play for the Lakers this year. It will be interesting if free agents will be lining up to go the Lakers next year or the trend continues that the Lakers have to over pay to get guys around LeBron.

I'd love to see Kawhi go to the Clippers to guage the recruiting difference that LeBron actually has. I could see players flock to Kawhi and Doc over LeBron and the Lakers.

Kyrie made it very clear that he would give up a sure fire shot at a title again in order to not have to play with Lebron. I think other players in the league see this clear as day, as well as how Lebron treats all of his teammates on the court-- yelling at them, screaming, and belittling them.

Looks like Lebron is creating his retirement community in LA. Final contracts for his boys.

It's why I'm not really angry at anyone in this situation.

There was a "joke" on the Clemson boards a while back when Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier took their rivals job because it was pretty much a "retirement" gig. They would photoshop them in a green jacket due to the close proximity to Augusta Georgia to Columbia South Carolina.

That's what this is. It's him wanting to be a movie producer.

Nothing to be mad about.

If he wasn't going to go to a legitimate title contender he should've stayed in Cleveland next year. Him in a Lakers jersey just isn't going to look right. It's been almost a week and I'm still pissed about it.
I know, i will never understand that move. The same division as the Warriors. I know its all about lifestyle for him, the move, but boy that pretty much ends any chance at rings.

I think LeBron moving this year was about his family as much as anything.

It seems Savannah really wants to be there, and his boys are starting school. Isn’t Bryce a freshman this coming year? That’s gotta be a big deal.

LeBron wanted to go to LA at some point, the Cavs made it easier to leave than it ever has been, and it was best for his family to go now.

Not gonna get into the initial stuff that’s been rehashed a million times and I read through on vacation, but in terms of timing, it seems clearly about his family as much as anything.

Does anyone think the Lakers team as it is right now is a lock to even move to the second round of the playoffs ?

They seem like a first round and done team. Heck on hind sight, knowing the Cousins situation, We could have easily offered him more money and give him half the season off to rehab and if he even come close to being as good as he was with the Pelicans - LeBron+Cousins+Love is a guaranteed repeat to the East title.

I really really want to find out what vision Magic sold to LeBron.

I think it's pretty simple. Keep the young core together and get 1 or 2 max free agents next summer.

"I know you've tried to recruit guys to Cleveland and struggled. We don't have that problem in LA. We combine your talents with this franchise, and guys will be lining up to play here just like Kawhi already is. We also have more than enough assets to make a trade or 2 if needed, or we can just let them develop along you and another star player. You don't have to worry about being the only guy to do everything as you age. You take care of your business, break some records, win some rings, and cement yourself as the greatest of all time. We're here to make sure you have help."

Bronny is starting 8th grade, Bryce Maximus was born during the 2007 finals and is ~2 1/2 years younger.

Funny thing about his having a good situation family-wise and with the Cavs to leave:

I was just looking back at the 2014 letter, which has been on my wall for a while and is not coming down any time soon, and as much as people want to take umbrage now with some of the statements, and that Windhorst et al had reported him as "speaking from the heart" rather than carefully scripting, he had worded most all of his statements so that he could wiggle out if he had to - which is not exclusive from his speaking from the heart.

For instance, his "finishing his career in Cleveland" is still possible, and his "not leaving Miami for anywhere except Cleveland" didn't preclude the latest move.

Despite it widely being called a "promise" he specifically said he couldn't promise a championship, although his goal was to bring "a" championship singular, as has often been parsed.

It is funny, with what we have just talked about here of Bosh and Wade being a better situation and ending up with 2 titles instead of 1, that one of LeBron's declarations was that it was going to be a longer learning curve and would test his patience - and yet the first 2 years ended exactly as the Heat's did, with a 6-game finals loss up 2-1 and a title.

There is luck in every situation, and the Heatles could have easily ended up with just 1 title as well or even 0; 2013 was a very close call, and 2012 had some close moments in the East and for that matter, the '12 Finals could've been different if Game 2 ended slightly differently.

As I've said, the 2014 Heat really were a lot like this past year's Cavs, as well, in terms of having an aging core and few real means to get better; that team was a comparable 54-28, 12-3 in the playoffs against a much weaker East, and got gentleman's swept against a Spurs team that, like the Dubs, was GOAT-level.

As a Lakers fan, I am sympathetic for what you guys have endured. I'd be lying if I said the city of Los Angeles isn't celebrating, as we've won a grand total of 1 playoff game since 2012, so having LeBron on the team brings back the winning culture that we're used to here in Laker land. None the less, the team as it currently stands is still missing that second superstar. But our young guys like Kuzma, Ingram and Ball are all pretty good players, and continue to improve. They now have a leader, something we didn't have last season. Still not better than the Warriors obviously and still have to go through the other ridiculously stacked Western teams, but it has given us hope once again, and that's better than year after year of the lottery. It's also pretty interesting and exciting at the same time that Los Angeles is embracing LeBron with open arms. He's already become the King of LA in many ways and although many fans were Kobe guys for years, we moved on from that era years ago, and are ready to embrace the era of the King. Sorry if anything I have said offended anyone or rubs anyone the wrong way, I really don't mean for that...I just wanted to give you guys the perspective of a Laker fan on this signing.

Basically this. There is no need to trade away any of the young guys when next summer, there is a bevy of FA's that the Lakers can sign to add to the roster. At that point, the team will be fairly stacked and actually at level of contention, especially if they're able to nab someone like Klay Thompson, which would be a great fit next to LeBron and would make the Warriors weaker in the process.

When Lebron signed with the Heat in 2010 I said he’d come back to Cleveland one day.

I believe Lebron will be back to Cleveland again. Call me whatever you want. I’m not changing my wallpaper again because I know within time, we’ll all be Witnesses Again

I'm not really sure why some people think this is LeBron "retiring" or what not... He just finished an all-time great postseason run. He's the clear cut #1 player in the world. I don't think he's giving up anytime soon..
