2018 Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hey brother at the end of the day I love the Indians and have been following them now for over 30 years. I don't care for Kipnis but if he can stay healthy and can help the Indians. I'm good with that. That's all I want is for the tribe to win. At the end of the day, I just don't think he's the one they can keep sending out everyday at 2B. Just my opinion, you have yours and it's all good. Go Tribe!!!

It seems like you're trying to dismiss everyone else's points and say that all sides are equal. They're not.

The value of a player is not what he's done historically--but rather what they will do in the future. Obviously historical trends are the best indicator of future outcomes, so we use those to build our best guess.

There's a reason people are using Kipnis's last 70 days as an indicator. His first two months were abysmal--they were an aberration and not something his career in baseball would say is likely to continue. Since he's left that abysmal period of time (maybe it was an injury? maybe it was mental? maybe it was bad luck?) he has returned to his .810+ OPS that he's been posting for the majority of his career. When you dismiss this as Kipnis "being hot," it's ignorant.

I just want you to be able to process the information we're discussing on this board, and hopefully we can improve your baseball opinions along the way. Endless posts that ignore evidence and attempt to misconstrue things are counterproductive.

Adam Jones or no Adam Jones, one name I would really love to acquire is Leonys Martin.

He’s a stalwart in CF and has been a league average producer at the plate with metrics saying it’s legit.

If you somehow get both:

Against RHP, CF - Martin, RF - Jones

Against LHP, CF - Jones, RF - Guyer

While I agree with you, do you really expect amicable response to such condescension? :chuckle:

Any backup catchers on the market for cash considerations?

I have no feelings to hurt. I'll take vitriol as long as it's well thought out. :conf (11):

To add to the conversation, I believe that there is a significant change in Kipnis's approach this year. When people have been on base, I've seen a lot more balls smacked for singles in front of the LF/RF than I remember. Every time in the past when he's been hot, he was hitting everything in the alleys.

So the Indians for the past month have been reportedly been in on all of these different players. Leading all the way up to the the deadline which is tomorrow, not it sounds as if they might have to stay put? Not good

Andrew McCutchen could get put on waivers at any time. I'm not worrying about the July deadline. Our main problems were solved the right way. The other problem (OF) might have a Jay Bruce feel to it.

There'll be quality OFs better than what we have on waivers. Indians won't be rocking and rolling with Rajai, Melky, Allen, and Guyer. Someone will be mixed in.

I cannot believe the Indians are going to blow this season and not bring in outfield help by the trade deadline...

Yeah, got the update that Andrew McCutchen has been put on the trading block by San Fran.

If I'm the Indians, I'm doing what I can to acquire him. Perfect type of center fielder for this team moving forward.

Would be super hyped if they did land him, although I'm not expecting it. I was kinda expecting Adam Jones, but with him staying put the Tribe will likely be quiet from now til the deadline passes and they work on the waivers.

Which, it is what it is.. They got two pitchers who will help us down the road in the playoffs.

Still though.. Adding someone like Adam Jones or especially Andrew McCutchen would be amazing.

I have no doubt before the playoffs start they will make a move for a guy if it is still necessary. Problem is there isn't a good market right now for OF help so I wonder if the prices are higher this year in a sense.

Cutch would be a nice addition for sure. Did that update just come thru within the past few minutes? I thought SF was still on the fence as to buy or sell? Thanks

I think what it is, they don't want to 100% trade him unless the offer is too good to pass up and with a thin OF market right now, I think the price of these guys may be too high anyways honestly. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they may go for a guy with years of control since we lose Brantley, Chisenhall etc at the end of the season, and Zimmer may not be ready to start next season with the ball club. Naquin cannot seem to stay healthy either sadly, so we need some more depth there long term anyways.
