2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Trading two 1sts for Mack would have been absolute suicide for the Browns.

The Saints just traded two first round picks for Marcus Davenport. Locking up Khalil Mack and Myles Garrett for at minimum the next 4 years would be suicide? When only one of them is making big money?

C'mon now, this is why you play ball. At some point teams need t stop doing thing based of off consensus and just go for it. I don't see anybody harping on how Jacksonville was picking in the top 5 for 5 consecutive drafts anymore. Probably because they said fuck it and went for it. At some point the team is going to have to make a move that puts them over the top. It's better to make that move sooner than later because it's easier to do it sooner with the cap situation.

There's a big difference between trading a top 10 pick and trading the 28th pick. The Saints are already legitimate SB contenders. The Browns, if everything goes perfect, might compete for a WC spot. Levels

But Jacksonville got out of the cellar by keeping their picks and identifying young, cheap talent to build a young core with? How is that applicable to what you want the Browns to do. The Jags didn’t “go for it” they just drafted well for a few years in a row and stayed disciplined. Pretty much the opposite of going for it lol

There is no difference. There's no guarantee where the pick will be the next year. Ask HOU. We watch teams give out dumbass contracts as soon as FA starts. We watch them make dumbass draft selections as soon as the draft starts. Why is it that the same teams that make dumbass decisions during FA and the draft get a pass for not going for it with elite players?

It doesn't matter if you are a SB contender like The Saints or a team on the bubble like the Titans. when guys like Khalil Mack are made available you need to throw out all of your excuses and go for it. Like I understand why CHI made this move. I get it. But why the fuck are all of these teams on the bubble holding their cards. The reports said the only teams involved were CHI, NYJ, BUF, GB, and CLE.

So basically CHI, NYJ, and BUF and 3 teams who probably wren't gonna win this year but they think they have the QB positions locked up and are ready to make a move that pushes them forward. So then besides us the only other team in the league who even inquired was GB? That's insane to me. That shows me that NFL teams are still slow as fuck. This is why The Patriots keep barreling through the league every year. If this was the NBA and a Khalil Mack type player was made available you would see 7-8 teams who legitimately try and acquire him. Just like Kawhi. Who is the NFL equal to TOR? Maybe a team like LAC, TEN, CAR, BAL? Those teams should be moving heaven and earth to get him but NFL teams are very conservative and old school. That's why the NBA is better.

Browns are a playoff team if they trade for Mack.

Tyrod and Collins money coming off next year is basically Mack.

Baker and Garrett on rookie deals make this move even better.

Who cares about 1st round picks when you have 2 sack machines controlling the game.

But... this is the NFL and dangerous injuries happen at any time. I'm not mad that the Browns aren't apart of this.,

I wanted Mack on the Browns, but see why the cost was deamed too high. Next years first is likely somewhere between 7-10. The year after pick probably 10-15 range. With those picks we can shore up the OL, D-line or maybe DB. We should be able to win the division within the next few years if we fill a few holes with quality players. And with Dorsey picking I have confidence in our front office again.

I don't get this..

I'm very disappointed that we didn't seal the deal for Mack. People need to realize that the NFL for the large part is a conservative traditional league with few forward thinking teams. This league is filled with teams who are legit comfortable being average. The next team that steps out on a limb with join the group of a select few.

So is the only way to sure up the OL and get a DB through picking top 15 in the draft? Keep in mind that we were one of the final two teams in it for Nate Solder. That would've sured up our OL for the next 3-4 years at least. Especially after swiping Hubbard from division foe PIT. The Browns added plenty of DB's this offseason including a promising franchise CB in Ward who is on a rookie deal the next 5 years.

I'm just trying to figure out hat was the pressing need that The Browns have to would prevent them from parting with two 1's for a top 10 player in the league. I'm struggling to find those needs when we damn near addressed all of them this offseason. I mean we might need a LB next year but we don't need to pick in the top 10 to get one. Where are the biggest holes on this roster and how does trading multiple 1's for Mack prevent us from addressing them?
