2018 Cleveland Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't get this..

I'm very disappointed that we didn't seal the deal for Mack. People need to realize that the NFL for the large part is a conservative traditional league with few forward thinking teams. This league is filled with teams who are legit comfortable being average. The next team that steps out on a limb with join the group of a select few.
Look at the two teams who were willing to give it all, Jets and Bears, two shit teams right there looking to make a come up.

The upper echelon teams were nowhere to be found because why?

NYJ and BUF are looking beyond this year man. If they would've traded for Mack and resigned him they would be doing it for the next few years when Brady is gone. There's a good chance that had either team got Mack they would have him longer in the next few years than NE had Brady. Once Brady leaves that division is up for grabs. they're just trying to get ahead of that. Same thing here with us and Ben. When he leaves who's leading this division?

Couldn't it simply be that the Browns offered up two firsts, same as the Bears, and Oakland simply liked the prospects on CHI's draft picks more?

Could be. Also could be that OAK wants him out of the conference and doesn't want to create a monster with Garrett and Mack that could become a future obstacle for them. I know I wouldn't ant to trade Myles Garrett in the conference to a team that could be a roadblock for us winning a SB.

Are people factoring in NFC too? In the NFL it's pretty smart trading to another conference.

Honestly, this massively improved the Browns odds to go 2-2 in the first 4. We'll see, but I think the Raiders are going to be much worse than the Browns.

A 2-2 start be fucking huge. Especially with BAL and LAC coming here in weeks 5 and 6. Need that early momentum.

So none led to a superbowl except maybe Walker who led to a Superbowl for the team that traded him.

Two firsts is just not worth it.

It is worth it for the right players. Those just weren't the right players.

Browns were never going to land Mack, honestly.. Even if they did offer 2 1st, if I'm Oakland I take Chicago's offer all day because that is a top 10 pick this upcoming draft, and possibly next year as well. Really a smart move to take it if they were 100% dead set on not paying Mack.

Chicago.. It's an odd move. Yeah they have Mitch and a few pieces.. But I don't feel like he's the guy. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm rooting for him because he went to high school 10 minutes from my house so it's a great story.. But I believe the Bears are a top 10 draft pick team this season, even with Mack.

The dream of having Mack on this defense would have been something. Browns would have been contenders for the division and wildcard for sure. I'm sure they explored it as much as they could, but they weren't going to beat that offer.

Oh well.
