What i'm saying is insane?
he never used to hop into his shot. After this workout he started kinda 1-2 hopping into his spot up shots. He also used to jump much higher on his jump shots. Remember how he shot differently against the Celtics?
Now just last night, do you remember his missed wide open 3pt shot from the left corner to start the game? Didn't it look just like this?

I'm telling you...it's Phil Handy.
Yes, it is insane.
1. You seem to be insinuating that Hood's drop in three point percentage is a result of ONE shooting session, of which you posted a 3 minute video.
2. What Handy is demonstrating in that video is basic fundamentals. Hopping into the jumper. I know you know that.
3. There's no evidence that this is some unseen new technique, given that Hood can be seen hopping into some of his shots in Utah:
That's literally the first shot on the first video I found on YouTube of him doing exactly what Handy would show him two years later. There's video of him hopping into his jumpers, standing still, and doing the 1-2 step into it. There's no evidence that he changed his shot.
4. I went back and watched both threes he took last night. In neither case did he do what Handy demonstrated.
5. However, let's ignore all of that, and, as a hypothetical, let's say you're right. Let's assume that one 3 minute shooting session with Phil Handy is responsible for turning a decent shooter into a broken mess who actually turns down open threes. What does that say for his mentality? He'd been in the league for 3.5 years before coming to Cleveland. He played at Duke. He's proven himself as a shooter. If what you're suggesting is correct, that Handy somehow undid all of Hood's hard work in three minutes... why keep Hood around? The guy is clearly unfit to play in this league if that's true.
6. But, obviously, that's insane. There's no evidence to suggest that that was the case. What's more likely is that Hood went from being a featured piece in Utah to a complementary player in Cleveland. His three point percentage dropped 3.7% points from Utah to Cleveland, but he also took half as many threes and his shots were coming from different spots. And 21 games is a small sample size. It's very likely he's still adjusting.
7. That said, I still don't want them to keep the guy because it's clear he doesn't want to be here, and he turns down open threes for contested twos. I can live with him missing good looks, but not with him turning those looks down.
