I don't understand why Chriss was even thrown out of the game last night. Makes no sense, he didn't do anything.
The have a 0 tolerance policy and he swung on Ibaka, but only after Ibaka's hands were clamped around his neck
I have looked several times, not sure he really threw a punch though, all joking aside I would appeal if I was Chriss, he was trying to get away from him, none of his arm swings were really punches, they were arm flails from being chocked, pushed and punched by an extremely strong man in Ibaka. Ibaka is probably one of the 5 strongest guys in the NBA.
I mean its Chriss, I could care less about the loss, but if he gets suspended for a game on that, then once a punch is thrown your only recourse is to take and get knocked out.
I get it. Personally I thought he threw the first "punch". His hand shot with a closed fist right by Ibaka's chin. If it wasn't a punch? Didn't look like a flail.
Maybe I got a bad angle, if it was a punch, yeah 1 game. 3 game seems light to me for a literal chock hold honestly, but I like Toronto and we have no need to win games, so I am not mad, but 5-7 games seems more appropriate, he went after Chriss hard.
NBA doesn't want any player throwing a punch even if it's self defense...which IMO is stupid.I don't understand why Chriss was even thrown out of the game last night. Makes no sense, he didn't do anything.
But we're talking about a 6 foot 10, 250 pound grown man throwing the punch instead of your typical 6 footer. They could kill a man doing so, just like Kermit Washington almost did to Rudy Tomjanovich in 1977.
Either way, he's just not a smart basketball player (and probably not smart a person either). He could find himself out of the league in a year or two if he doesn't shape up. It's worse than Drew Gooden at the same age (and that was bad enough).
His body language is no like Wiggins. Has that no motor hands hanging at his sides thing.
10 Points, 10 Rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 assists in 20 minutes is a nice night for a guy off the bench.
