I’m with you on all ceiling if we get out of the top 3. I don’t know who that is, but anymore I’m of the opinion in drafts like this I’d rather have 3 firsts in the 20s rather than one pick at 6.
Half the emerging stars were guys under the radar. I’d rather roll the dice on 3 kids from Africa or some European 7’4 kid with grainy video footage from some village in Uzbekistan.
I look back at previous drafts and think you have a better shot at finding a diamond in the rough with some foreign poorly coached kid before an underperforming kid who was 5* out of high school and did the AAU circuit since 12. Lately it feels the Siakam, Anouby, Jokic types are hitting at a similar frequency as Reddish types. He’s been hot garbage on the court. You’re essentially speculating on a body type that should translate but hasn’t yet, in which case I’d rather have 3 lottery scratch offs than 1.
I’d never reach for those guys, but if you don’t have a pick where you can draft someone who is actually already good, draft 3 raw guys with the right body type. I used to cringe when we’d draft some foreign kid or late to the game under the radar college kid, but anymore I’d rather take a shot on a few of those if they are physically gifted.
