2019 Cleveland Indians Opening Day Roster

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

We knew the team would not obtain anything for Lebron though, which is why there was a definite end to the era.

With the Indians it could be different. I can see moving Lindor as the catalyst of a new window. Form most reports this organization is loaded in the lower minor leagues, and some of those players maybe ready when Frankie’s contract is up.

Starting next offseason, they should be looking to sell as high as they can. Everyone knows he’s not resigning, so maximize his value in return.

I disagree with the selling next season actually at the end of the day. I feel they will actually be a better team next season with the same roster. The OF should develop this season, and we have control over almost all the 25 man roster next season (outside of Miller and Hanley). The young guys like Karinchak, Sandlin, could make a case for the bullpen! We should have a solidified Setup man by next season and I feel the bullpen in general will be better than this year. I keep saying even though the division will be better in 2020, the Indians will actually be better next season as well. I’ll take Bauer leaving if that means we get a championship

They're also desperately trying to unload Myers.

They also have a TV deal thats like three times larger than Cleveland's. There are a number of reasons why playing this market comparison is not great.
They under negotiated the tv deal very badly. That is one thing the Rays did well in Tampa a year ago. Major error by ownership, but they can do a new deal in 2022
They actually brought this up on Tampa radio a few weeks ago when they talked about how ticket sales is only part of the way the team is drawing revenue and not as important as it once was.

Interesting stat from the latest Athletic Article. The Dodgers, Red Sox, and Indians are the only teams to make the Division series each of the past 3 years. Below are the number of players from the opening day roster to make the DS roster

2016
Dodgers 14/25
Red Sox 17/25
Indians 18/25

2017
Dodgers 14/25
Red Sox 15/25
Indians 16/25

2018
Dodgers 16/25
Red Sox 18/25
Indians 16/25

They have two years after this year to move him, so if the arrow is pointing up toward making a run again next year, then bring him back. It’s fluid.
I’m simply trying to be realistic. Some team may be willing to give up the farm for him, and that’s ideal for a guy you’re not resigning. He’s going to want 400M, and the Tribe can’t pay that.

Listen, you can put ketchup on fries, burgers, onion rings, hashbrowns, eggs, etc.

But on an encased tube of excess pork trimmings? Don't be ridiculous
