2019 NBA Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kyrie, LeBron, and KD in LA. Plus whoever they trade #4 for

Let the games begin.

This lottery will hang over our heads next year with only top 10 protection for next year's pick. I think teams will now force top 14 protection instead of top 10.

We won't have the comfort to play into #7-#9 odds.

That's actually interesting. When those agreements were made the odds we different. These transitions are always unfair. Like I wish we had these odds is last year

If I'm NOLA I trade the No.1 pick to NYC or MEM...

Why would NOLA do that?

then trade AD to LA for the 4th pick, Kuzma, Ingram and a future 1st.

Or they can trade AD to the Knicks for the No. 3 pick, Smith Jr., and a future first. Although probably the difference in value between the 3rd and 4th pick this year would be enough that they wouldn't have to toss in that future 1st.

You're smoking rocks if you think E&Y is in on the rig.

There's also representatives from each team watching the drawings. So each lottery team would need to be in on it too.

Correct. The "ZOMG cavz lodderie luck!!11!!" crowd, which generally is other teams' fans looking to make Cavs fans feel guilty, doesn't know what they are talking about.

Inasmuch as there was "lottery luck" in the early 2010s, I would say it merely made up for, you know, the bad sports luck for decades before that.

However, we should all be homer enough to be willing to both say that the recent drafts are not rigged, and also from the pre-E&Y era call out the Patrick Ewing bent envelope.

Are you saying the world of business is a world of virtue?

There are no fewer virtuous people in business than anywhere else.

Those who claim otherwise just have sour grapes about someone else earning more money than they do.

Talk me down from the ledge, Fellas.

The two best players, IMO, are Zion and Morant, but they aren't surefire, can't miss prospects. There are legitimate concerns about how well Zion's game will translate. I personally think Morant would have been an interesting pairing with Sexton but bigger guards may have been posting them up all game.

Odds were the Cavs would be drafting somewhere between 3 - 6. It was always going to be a bit of crapshoot with that group of players. Who really knows if Culver will be better than Hunter, etc etc.

The Cavs could still end up with the best player in his draft, or a very good starter.
