Adarius Taylor ahead of Genard Avery is a surprise to me. Have I just not been paying attention?
IIRC, some Twitter peeps said Avery had a very bad preseason.Adarius Taylor ahead of Genard Avery is a surprise to me. Have I just not been paying attention?

Huh?This is still so surreal to me.

Why is he listed as an OLB instead of a DE? I have a tin foil hat theory: If we ever get to the point where we need to tag him, his tag will be less expensive as an OLB as opposed to a DE.

I still think of him as an edge rusher who might occasionally play as a drop LB. In passing downs, my guess is usuallyhe'll come in as an edge rusher. Occasionally, they might ask him to drop in coverage, or come in and play as an OLB in a run down. So in a sense, he is behind Taylor at OLB. But I think that's only half of his responsibilities.

Scottish Hammer.......punter and holderI think you missed where he is listed as both a DE and LB. Obviously he plays both, but was the only player with 2 positions as far as I can tell including OL
I know they are not going to predominantly use two TEs, but I would love to see some 12 formation with this team. Njoku and Harris out there with Chubb, OBJ, and Jarvis could be really useful a few times a game. Obviously it requires Njoku becoming a willing blocker, but if that happens, teams will be confused how to handle the formation.Taylor had the job from the beginning. Avery got on the field more as a designated pass rush specialist, which isn't exactly Taylor's skillset. I don't think the depth chart accurately shows how flexible in personnel on the field the Browns are going to be on both offense and defense. They won't prominently use two tight ends, and they won't prominently use a 4-3.
One stipulation I'd add is that we may have some restructuring candidates this offseason, if they want to stay with the team and were already overpaid during that first surge of signings under Dorsey.
I know restructuring is a baffling and new situation for Browns fans, but it happens on good teams.
That would be amazing.Yep. Among others, I can easily see a Jarvis restructuring coming next off-season and using some of the saved $ to keep Higgins around.
Higgins seems to really like it here and there's no denying the chemistry him & Baker have.
