2020 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I actually think Gibson is a guy right out of Kyle Shanahan's dreams. That kid can do everything, run, catch, decoy, etc.

He profiles out a lot like David Johnson. He's a guy I would have grabbed in the mock if we made it to 5 and he was still there.

Biased here, but love the Markus Bailey pick late, he is a stud LB with a high motor who got hurt his senior year so its a low risk high reward pick. I think he can be a good LB in the NFL, but then again I am biased on Purdue guys.

You would have drafted three RBs in the first 5 rounds? Are you a Timberwolves fan perchance?

Having guys like CEH and Antonio Gibson is valuable because you can use them in the receiving game and they are deadly in space. I'm also of the opinion that you can never have enough NFL-caliber backs on your team, and as of now the Dolphins have basically zero. NFL offenses are becoming all about versatility. The more weapons you have, the more you can throw at opposing teams.

It's also worth noting that I'm pretty sure I had three fifth rounders and heading into this draft my only NFL players after at WR and RB after trading Parker are Preston Williams, who is still a bit of a question mark, and Jordan Howard, who sucks.

My uninformed take on everything that is going on with the Browns:

-The team probably has only one or two tackles it likes at #10 and does not view the draft as a place to fill holes. Hence the talk of walking into this draft like the team has an expansion roster.

-I also imagine the team is sending out rumors (i.e., Trent Williams) to try and prevent other teams from trading up and grabbing someone that they want.

-I hesitated to post this, but, I also think it is very plausible that Berry and DePodesta do not value an offensive tackle as highly as we do. I do not buy PFF's WAR metric, but, it does suggest offensive tackles have a decreasing "wins above replacement" as pass rush has become focused on exploiting holes rather than sides. I disagree, but nonetheless, there is at least one analytics agency who holds that belief. If this is the case, I would expect no trade for Trent Williams, and the team to draft whoever they like at OT in the second or third rounds.

-I also believe that "the team" they built this summer (DePodesta, Berry, and Stefansk) were brought together with large agreement on what this team will look like over the next two seasons. If they truly believe that the Browns can contend for a Super Bowl, I could very easily see them drafting a position with high ready-to-play value. Unlike offensive tackle, defensive tackle, EDGE, and off-ball linebacker all translate very easily to the NFL and high picks at these positions generally enter the league with a positive value. Alternatively, DePodeseta and company do not think the team is Super Bowl ready, I could also see them "reaching" for an offensive tackle like Cleveland, drafting a receiver, or drafting a cornerback - and hoping that player is a net-positive guy by 2021.

I think I'm with you @jking948 , but to my eye, I think I've come around to liking Thomas/Wills/Becton as my top 3, while I'm not a huge fan of Wirfs.

I'm okay with any of the tackles, or even Isaiah Simmons at 10. I'm good with a trade down if it nets us at least a second (ideally a first next year). If we came away with Cleveland, Jones, Niang or Jackson, I'd be happy.

I'd prefer someone like Tyler Johnson or Van Jefferson in the third than drafting Lamb at 10.

Trading down for Cleveland to sit a year and picking up a 2nd would definitely be ideal if they move for Williams

I don't think Ezra Cleveland sits.

I know my view of him skews from a lot of the people here, but I see a guy who played more snaps at LT than anyone else we're talking about, and has better movement skills than most.

Sure it'd be nice to get him stronger and more refined in year two, but I think he plays a lot year one.

If I'm playing a game tomorrow, I trust him a lot more at LT than I do Tristan Wirfs.

"Cleveland landed on NFL radars as a sophomore, earning first-team all-conference Honors as a 13-game starter on the blindside. He played over 900 snaps at left tackle for Boise State in each of his three seasons, recording an 81.0 pass-blocking grade according to Pro Football Focus' draft guide.

Cleveland's run-blocking grade improved to 78.0 in each of his last two years. He also showed growth, allowing fewer than 20 total pressures, and was also flagged for just seven penalties.

Cleveland, in general, is scheme versatile, but given his skill set, his best fit appears to be in a zone-blocking scheme, where he can best use his lateral mobility and range"
