Thinking of UL Washington reminds me of his predecessor, Freddie Patek. He'd have been known as "Fred" if he'd been taller than 5'4", but that was not the case.
Remember that great day he had with the Angels, stroking 3 dingers?
@Lee
You don't remember anything about him stroking 3 dingers?Not at all, lol...I had to look him up, finished his career when i was 9, career 41 home runs with 633 OPS. Played in 1650 games, but the guy was as forgettable as you get and i was way too young when he played.
He had a serious fetish for the color Orange. I think it even extended to a love of Orange Jell-O.Not a favorite player of mine, but does anyone remember a pitcher named Charlie Kerfeld? Played for the Astro's in the late 80's. But played his final year in 1990 as an Atlanta Brave. Over the course of his short tenure, the Braves Broadcast team of Skip Caray and Pete Van Wieren(?) started referring to him as "Large Charles". This lasted a handful of games before they announced they would no longer being calling him that because they had received complaints from his mother.... Good times...
no but I'll put my money on Julio still hitting seeds when he is 80None of the players you guys have mentioned are in their 80's.
I'm disappointed.
I can't believe he's only 62.no but I'll put my money on Julio still hitting seeds when he is 80
