2021 Draft Lottery

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You want me to point you to the Celtics game where he got pulled after turning it over 6 times in less than 10 minutes, the Pacers game where McConnell set a halftime record, etc.

Teams don't double Sexton. They either trap him to see if they can force a turnover, or they wait for him to drive into the paint where two to three defenders lie in wait.

This is from maybe 2 weeks before the season ended, but Sexton still ended up being the 8th most double teamed player in the league. Now we can debate whether he got doubled because of how good Sexton himself was or because of how poor the rest of the players around him were on offense, but let's not pretend that "teams don't double Sexton", because they did. Here's the link to the more updated numbers: https://nbacourtoptix.nba.com/en

It is hard to ridicule guys who helped build the 2016 roster and team, which Griffin absolutely helped do with trades and roster management. Working between LeBron and Rich Paul with Gilbert on the other side was not easy.

But I always felt that he somehow earned this "savant" type label and I really don't think it was warranted.

Eli Manning and John Elway are one extreme of forcing a drafting team away; Bernie Kosar is an extreme of figuring out how to get to a particular team.

Not many NBA players have forced moves before their third contract. Most give it a shot with their drafted team.

SGA was pretty clear on his distaste for the Cavaliers but I'm not convinced it was at the Eli - Elway level. Can totally understand the Cavaliers not wanting to take a risk.

Mobley - I think its really a reach to take his interviews and put him in the SGA category. Is he going to refuse to join the team? Pass up his second contract?

I think the smaller market teams do have a disadvantage because if the team and organization stinks there's no reason to stay, whereas if you're in LA or Miami there are compensating living factors.

But if you're a small market team with an owner who is willing to pay then you can hold on to your better players if you win (except for the Kyrie types who have other motivations).

Tl;dr - I think the small market disadvantage is there but not as big a factor as usually assumed.

Chicago has them and those are the ones I've experience the most. They make alot of sense for the clients they are targeting.

The places I'm talking about aren't these huge clubs that most people tend to refer to. These are small places that are expensive and they are able to get good music acts. No one knows about them and the names tend to be some variation of the bigger club that is connected to it so when you refer to it normal people just assume you are saying the place wrong. Even if you know about them, you aren't getting in without knowing someone.

For athletes they are left alone and can enjoy themselves without fans. There is just a certain level of respect for everyone's privacy.
ok Johnny Drama, tell us the names of these Chicago clubs....

I know some of them closed down in recent years but Sub 51 and Studio Paris are the two I've seen the most athletes at. I've been to a couple more and some of the bigger music venues where the VIP area was very hidden.

Isn't one of these the club that ended David Thompson's career before the coke did?

You are probably thinking of studio 54 which is a famous club back in maybe the 70's and 80's.

The places I'm talking about would have been the places to go between 5 and 10 years ago.

These names are very boring. Somehow I shouldn't expect famous people to go to places with interesting names...

They are variations of the normal place they are connected to. Sub 51 is some basement space of Hub 51. Studio Paris was the upstairs of Paris club. They had separate entrances usually with no signs.

I've had friends who lived in Chicago which I mention these places and they would just correct me to the main places name thinking I just had it wrong.

Columbus does have better nightclubs than Cleveland. After Mobley publicly declines Cleveland's offer. Hopefully it will spur the city to improve that particular activity to attract young athletes.
