Watson has made his Twitter private...what a clown :chuckle:

If it's the former, and they purposefully enabled assisted him to continue doing it, that's huge. But if they thought they were just helping protect him from any potential golddiggers when he hadn't done anything wrong, it's not.

So this is a legal question.

The fact that an NDA was provided at all indicates that the Texans were aware something was up, right?

Even if the texans are trying to maintain deniability in this issue, which i understand them wanting to do, would it not be an exceptionally weak argument "well watson came to us with a claim he was being blackmailed (best case argument), but we decided not to investigate it at all, and instead we just provided him with an NDA".

As I said before, the situation with the Texans just doesn't add up in terms of when Watson told them he wasn't going to play for the team anymore, the first lawsuit being filed two weeks after, and now this. There's a lot pointing to the Texans being complicit in the whole thing and potentially only making it a serious issue once Watson said he was leaving.

This would be my guess as to why the NFL hasn't done anything yet. They might be investigating the Texans/McNair to see if they had a hand in encouraging or hiding the behavior.

The thing that doesn't add up to me in this is if the Texans knew he was a scumbag, why expose him before trading him? I get that they still got a haul for him in the end, but it would've made more sense to keep it quiet, trade him Spring 2021, and move on. Or, if they wanted to get back at him for whatever reason, expose him after the trade.

Either way, Watson is still trash (the first accusation dates back to the Fall of 2019), it just depends in the Texans are going to join him in receiving punishment or not.

Kind of paints an ugly picture on how Baker was destroyed and made public enemy #1 in those regards. Ultimately, the skill level of the player is what's most important - the twitter beefs are and have always been rather meaningless. However, lots of Browns fans months ago weren't hearing that and were just tilted by whatever "drama" the media would report on.

Well... THIS is drama.

I don't think anyone destroyed him or made him, "public enemy #1." We just discussed that he is immature, and things like those were evidence of it.

I would hope we're capable of enough nuance to recognize the different situations as different and independent.

I'd argue calling Watson a clown for making his twitter private is just as, if not more silly, "drama".
 
The journalists need to lead with the 66 number for clicks but within that number are the 15 that offered support to Watson and his side. It's not like he jumped from 24 cases of misconduct to 66 overnight as some will inevitably believe. Intellectually dishonest.

I don't think that anything from this week will affect him much legally speaking, but we all know the NFL just gives out suspensions based on public outrage levels. Not surprised Buzbee saved some levers to pull for this very moment. Moderately concerned the suspension can arbitrarily increase based on how many headlines get dominated this offseason.

Also, the Florio stuff about voiding his contract or the Lima stuff about the Browns being surprised is also extremely intellectually dishonest (at least for Florio). The well-educated members of this audience know that Jimmy has extremely close ties with Hardin. The Haslams 100% know the whole deal.

:chuckle: come on, he got annihilated. It wasn't just a "discussion". Dudes were memeing and trashing him for awhile without any new information coming out. And that's on this forum, which is generally a grade above the filth found on the likes of Reddit and Twitter.

Yes, they're separate. I'm not claiming they're tied or anything... just saying that happened with Baker doesn't compare with the drama that is ongoing with Deshaun.

And I'm still optimistic that we're seeing the worst of it in a desert-like June when nothing is going on. Settlements and a suspension will likely happen and eventually it'll die down.

Go listen to the McClain interview. The known number before last week was 15 in support, plus 22 in the law suit, plus another couple that have come forward to give testimony but dont want to be a part of the criminal/civil suit. I think the total number was 44-46, and its presumed thats what the NFL/browns/texans knew. The surprise of the last couple of days is that there are 2 more women joining the suit (that appear to be previously unknown), plus there are still another 20ish women out there that we dont know anything about.

Its not a "holy shit htere are 66 women suing Watson" its "Watson clearly had a habit of going to different MTs, and does that constitute a different level of violation of NFL rules from what was already known"
