Too lazy to put huge blurbs next to them today. I'm open to discussing any of these though. Anyway, here is the back half of my top 10:
6) Mass Effect Trilogy. Yep, including the whole trilogy as one. Fuck off. Anyways, space opera at its finest. Mass Effect 2 I give credit for getting be "back" into gaming. I had stopped playing video games when I went to Ohio State. I had loved ME1 and one day was just like screw it, and preordered ME2 and grabbed it on launch day. Been back into gaming ever since. Think I've played through it 4-5 times, maybe more.
7) The Last of Us. Played this one late. Back in 2017 or 2018 when I bought a PS4. One of like two games to get me emotional, honestly. Not much to be said about this one. It's an all-timer.
8) Red Dead Redemption 2. Same as above. One of the few games to get me emotional. Such a grueling game in some ways, I certainly can say I enjoyed it but it was more of an experience than a game I picked up to play for fun. Have not gone back to it and not sure I ever will, yet this game is like etched in my memory forever, I think.
9) Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I mean, this should go without saying. Love Star Wars, and this is one of the best Star Wars games if not THE best. Great story, great twist, really fun dive into the Star Wars mythos. Played through several times which is hella rare for me (granted I was just a kid when I played this, much more free time). Would just kill for another Star Wars RPG in this fashion. I guess I'll have to settle for the remake.
10) Assassin's Creed II. Actually picked this up alongside ME2, and I also give this credit for getting me back into gaming. Had never played the first one, and took a flier due to the buzz it was getting. Glad I did. I don't think to this day this series has gotten back to the heights of AC2.
Honorable Mentions:
Total War: Warhammer II
Hollow Knight
Half Life
Halo 1-3
Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Total Annihilation
Perfect Dark
Goldeneye
Mario 64
Metroid Prime
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
That's about it. Had to give some oldies some credit in the Honorable Mentions.
