A season to remember!Historic... just like blowing a 13 point lead at home with 1:55 to go.
KS overcoached that game. He became too smart to his own detriment. Our running game is our best offensive asset but KS goes away from it at every key point of the game where it would make sense to utilize it. The worst example was when we were within a yard of tying FG range and he got pass happy, 3 runs and a kick would have tied it and with Chubb there's always a decent chance he takes it to the house for the win. Likewise on some of our red zone failures. We need to run to set up the pass, and only pass opportunistically. When we came out in a 22 set we had some nice plays, empty sets weren't so good going by memory.
Except that we lost the game by the easy three points we didn’t take. Sure, it’s a sound plan when you know your defense can get a stop, but we are pretty banged up. You take the points.Yeah, you're wrong.
3 points, when you are so close to scoring 7, is just as bad as nothing.
The risk vs reward is incredibly in favor of going for it that I would gladly come away with points if it means every other time I get a TD and not a FG
0-0 in the first quarter, you want to kick from inside the 5 instead of going for it?Except that we lost the game by the easy three points we didn’t take. Sure, it’s a sound plan when you know your defense can get a stop, but we are pretty banged up. You take the points.
I’m not saying this is you but I am saying people that say “we should take the points” have a higher likelihood of using VCRs to record the games.Except that we lost the game by the easy three points we didn’t take. I'm glad you aren't the coach. That's a losing move.
I'd argue that pinning a team inside their own 5, when the defense is banged up, is just as valuable as a FG when the reward is a TD.Except that we lost the game by the easy three points we didn’t take. Except is wasn't as valuable, and the three points would have at least given us another chance. Not that we deserved it. The offense was awful.I'd argue that pinning a team inside their own 5, when the defense is banged up, is just as valuable as a FG when the reward is a TD.
And saying "we lost the game by three points", I'd argue that makes going for a FG just as worthless. Because I'd argue that if we succeed in getting a TD, which you should on the 3, then you win the game.
