Portland acquires: Tyler Herro, Kyle Lowry, Jarrett Allen, picks from Heat & Pelicans
Miami acquires: Damian Lillard, Dean Wade
Cleveland acquires: Jeremi Grant, Larry Nance Jr.
New Orleans acquires: Isaac Okoro
Hardest of passes. I want no part of Jeremi Grant on a 5 year $160M deal.

With solid guys like Bryant, Bamba, Eubanks, etc., available [or were] and a backup true big being a serious need.. there's really no excuse to not come out of this with another true useful big.. come on FO. Hoping to not play the Knicks again or hoping neither of JA or Mobley miss time better not be their plan.
Eubanks signed with the Suns in like 5 minutes. I'm pretty meh on Bryant. I assume Bamba, Wood, and Plumlee aren't ready to play on a league minimum deal which is why they're still out there.

I would be tempted to jump in and use the bi-annual on Wood or Bamba to out-bid other teams if their offers are league minimum. It's doubtful we will have access to it again once we go into the tax. So use it right now.

can cavs still sign players or moneys gone?

Cavs have the following--

$2M left of MLE
$4.5M left of BAE
$3.9 Trade Exception

2 roster spots but 3 if you waive Merrill..

They're about $3.4M under the luxury tax and $10M away from the hard cap which they can't go over this year..

Fill it out with a couple end of the bench, minimum salary, projects? Worked well with both Wade and Stevens.

Green Lantern thinks we got marginally better. I am a little more optimistic. We didn't lose much defensively because Stevens didn't play much and Cedi kind of sucked on defense, IMO. He wasn't a rebounder, either.

Looking at the Knicks' series, the Cavs used seven players. The starters averaged 34-41 minutes. Cedi and Okoro averaged 19 and 15 minutes, respectively. Danny Green averaged 8 minutes and that was it.

In this year's playoffs we will have the same starting five with Strus and Niang replacing Cedi and Okoro. Not a marginal upgrade, IMO. Substantial upgrade.

Okoro and Cedi combined for 12.4 points and 4.8 rebounds in 34 minutes in that series. They were mostly non-factors.

Rubio did not score a point in 17 minutes. He should be 100% by next spring.

So with (hopefully) better versions of Mobley and Rubio and with the two new outside snipers replacing Cedi and Okoro, the Cavs should be significantly better. A lot will depend on how much Mobley improves from his second to third year and how well JBB can integrate the new snipers with the current core to maximize the talent.

The thought of having the same team for at least two years in a row is exciting. These guys will learn each other like the back of their hand and the offense should be flowing smoothly by the '24 playoffs.

The rebounding, or lack of it, which killed us against the Knicks, is basically unchanged. Cedi averaged 3 rebounds in 19 minutes against the Knicks. Stevens barely played. We're not losing any rebounding or defense but we're picking up a lot of outside shooting.

The biggest vulnerability is still defensive rebounding, especially when Allen or Mobley is out. Niang is not much of a rebounder - on the defensive glass he's in the 19th percentile among forwards. Same for Okoro, LeVert, and Strus at the 3. This is going to be a frustrating team to watch on defense since a lot of missed shots are going to be rebounded and put back.

It's discouraging to see your team play great defense for 22 seconds, force a contested, low percentage shot, have the shot miss, but then there's an offensive rebound and a follow for two points and sometimes three.
I will adjust my opinion after I saw the last two aquisitions of Jerome and Jones. That bench is much better now.
The team in general should be much more efficient than last year. Of course it comes down to playing the games and how Bickering one coaches.

I'm with you. Grant is a useful player, but the years are almost as bad as the number. That is the kind of contract you may have to end up attaching to assets to rid yourself of if things don't go great (and for that kind of money, you should expect a great player).

Speaking of which, we should all be thankful Caris signed a very reasonable contract that is extremely movable if the time ever came to do so. He had us over a barrel, in truth. Cavs couldn't afford to lose the asset for nothing and his camp had all the leverage. He could've pulled a 2016 Tristan Thompson type move, albeit an obviously different set of circumstances. We all knew TT probably wasn't worth that much money on the open market, but we couldn't afford to lose him for nothing.

I'm guessing this is the reason the Blazers were forced to overpay, too.

So, big shout out to Caris Levert for not overplaying his hand and putting us in a bad spot.

Dame's has a no-trade clause. And reports now indicate he wants to be a Heat. Everyone thinks he's going there.
Yep. Portland will find themselves in a similar situation that Washington was in with Beal. It’s almost impossible for the club to get fair value in a trade when the player holds all the cards. Miami will get their third star for $0.50 on the $1.00.

Something to point out is that adding all of these shooters will positively impact Isaac Okoro, as he will now be able to focus on being a slasher/cutter, which is his strength. I'm glad we kept him, his defense will be an asset for this team moving forward.

So we have 2 roster spots left, we know Koby likes to keep one spot open heading to season for flexibility so who will be our last signing? Travers? A free agent like DJJ? Another trade?

Who are you counting? I got:

DG, Rubio
Mitchell, LeVert
Strus, Wade
Mobley, Niang
JA, Jones

Okoro, Jerome, iMobley, Bates

That's 14 spots.

Just out of curiosity how did you estimate the structures of Niang and Strus's contracts? Are you estimating them flat, increasing, or declining?
