2023 Browns Training Camp Thread: Going to the Hall of Fame

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know some will disagree, but if they have to move out of downtown, i wont be as mad as some. The Haslams are trying to find a downtown solution, but they keep running into walls. As long as the team stays in the Cleveland area, I an accept that.
Moving sites means building a new stadium from scratch which equals the increased likelihood of a dome/retractable roof. Sign me up.

Jordan Elliott playing about 35-40% of the total snaps at three tech on first and second down is fine. The problem we had last season stemmed from Jordan Elliott playing the majority of the snaps as the primary interior defensive linemen. He ain't that guy.

I've never been a big Elliott guy and he hasn't done anything to convert me.

I still think that if he's starting, not only is the interior of your defensive line a weakness, but you're minimizing the effectiveness of your best asset (Myles). With four good defensive linemen, the offense has to account for everyone. If you know you can always erase the 3-tech with your guard, that allows you to play numbers the rest of the way around the defense.

I think Dalvin is a known commodity. The next player I have the most hope for from our current stable of interior defensive linemen is Ika.

After him, I have more faith that a veteran defensive tackle will shake free during roster cuts, or we'll bring one in off the street. For example, give me Shelby Harris over Jordan Elliott

I'm expecting Myles and Za'Darius to play a snap count around 70-80% by the end of the season. It sounds like Za'Darius will play a lot of three tech on passing downs. Obo is there as a third end who should play as many or more snaps as Elliott.

If we have a relatively healthy season up front, Jordan Elliott won't be such a glaringly mediocre player. He was second on the defensive line to Myles last season in snaps. That's a huge indictment on the talent of the group overall. He isn't a second best on an NFL team type of talent.

We agree that high tide raises all boats for a defensive line. Just as you stated that a player as poor as Elliott weakens those around him, the shitty players from last season made Elliott look a lot worse. Couple the shittiness of Taven Bryan and Jadaveon Clowney with Elliott playing out of position as a nose tackle, and it's reasonable to believe Elliott can be better in smaller role.
