2023-24 Season | Game #26 | Hawks @ Cavs | Dec. 16, 2023 | 7:30 p.m. | NBA-TV

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As a proponet of No PG lineups is not going to happen, seeing it work in the first half of the first game in probably a month or two without Garland it has worked.

Donovan has 9 assists and playing within the offense. Our bench has more 3x as many points as Donovan himself. We were worried about lack of ball movement and hero ball. Making us eat our crow early. I'm hoping for continued servings and intrigued to see how teams adjust to us without Garland and Mobley.

Yeah, if we see this sort of performance over an extended period of time, there are big questions that need answered.

It was this same feeling when Mitchell and LeVert were out earlier.

And getting Garland to play like that (like he did against Philly) WITH Mitchell is easier said than done. It's not as simple as just throwing them back together and it's all ok.

Cavs up 18 at half. Good defense, great offense against the depleted Hawks.

Off the bench Merrill leads the with 9-1-1 in 8 minutes.

That was an enjoyable half of basketball
Perhaps, the most enjoyable first half of the season; amazing what happens when you rotate in some bench players and keep starters fresh. Extremely pleased that Donovan was sharing the ball and not trying to completely take over the scoring without 2 starters; in fact, he already has 9 assists!

Good half but it’s just one half against one pathetic defensive team.

Not the time to be making bold statements about who plays better without player X etc.

Team has no interest in tanking not being a playoff team so during this stretch w out DG and Evan, it’s really just about stacking any win we can, whatever we we can get it

Former Cav Brendon Haywood lauding Donovan‘s decision making as well; taking whatever the Hawks’ defense allows

Exceedlingly hard the evidence suggests. I tend to think you've actually got a better chance getting DG to play off the ball, but the balance we saw in the first half is still unlikely in my opinion. It will be interesting to see if Mitchell is content to play this way for an extended period. This version of Mitchell is exceptional.

Allen did play like crap the previous 4 games with Mobley out.

That's fair. Sometimes a guy just has a night and it doesn't mean more than that.

Overall feeling this year is that this team has generally looked better when hurt than when healthy. Denver and Philly with no Mitchell or LeVert and now this game.

But maybe I'm just fooling myself on that.
