Andre Iguodala on the market?

FWIW:

Philly's insider said they had talks with Phoenix that were essentially: Amare & Richardson for Brand, Iggy, 2010 1st Round pick

The major hitch in the deal was the protection on that pick. He implied that Philly would want top 3 protected at minimum, but they'd prefer top 5 protected if possible. That may change because we wouldn't be making them take on J-Rich, who doesn't expire this year, but it'd still probably be top 3 protected at minimum.

Wow, I hope that's just a smokescreen on Philly's part. Phoenix and Robert freakin' Sarver would take on those 2 huge contracts?

Amare would re-up in Philly?

That would be an absolutely enormous deal

Not saying Phoenix' offer isnt the best one... without a doubt it is.

But Philly would need to re-sign Amare to a max deal, and would probably want a guarantee it would happen as a part of the deal. Very tricky stuff.

Not to mention Brand's contract might be the worst in the league. I'd be pretty shocked if Phoenix would take on that kind of money, as cheap as their owner is rumored to be.

Gonna be interesting, to say the least...

I was against taking Brand back in the deal. But the more I think about it, the more I don't mind. Sure I would rather get back Dalembert, but Iggy, Brand, and a top 10 pick?

Pretty juicy to me...

They would clearly rather give up Brand. Problem is, according to the insider NO teams have shown interest in him. They don't want to add any of their young talent (excluding Iggy) as incentive for Brand either.

If we took Brand, I think it'd be a done deal tbh. But like I've said before, I can't see Ferry doing that. Props to him if he has the balls to pull that off, though.

Only way I trade brand is if we get their First round pick unprotected!

Other then that i want Dalembert with Iggy which i stated before for Three reasons

1) We won't have to include draft picks (on both sides)
2) It would keep Ferry Very Flexible Next season with his 12 min expiring
3) We would be getting size back in the trade, to fill in for Z for 30 days

As of right now we will be locked up salary wise for the next 3 seasons if we Don't do a trade soon!
- What would happen if a "al jefferson" came available during draft day and we had no way to get him?

And remember Powe will be back after the allstar game.

I can see Ferry making the move to get Iguodala and committing the salary to him. I don't see him doing the same WITH Elton Brand. Taking on those 2 contracts is a lot to ask of Dan Gilbert and with the uncertainty of the CBA in 2 years, I seriously doubt anyone would take that risk.

I can't see Phoenix take that deal either. Just too much money tied up with too much uncertainty in the future

I was on the take Brand bandwagon for a few hours.

But I can't be on it any longer.

Listen, there's a good chance that there's going to be a lock-out next summer(2011). After that lockout happens, and the players union caves, which they will, there will likely be a hard cap.

If we have Brand tied up for two more years at that point, that's two years of absolutely no ability to improve the team. He's a cap anchor and even though Gilbert would spend, the CBA might not let him spend in the future.

Somebody get LeBron on the phone. I wanna hear what HE thinks...

With Brand gone, I think they'd be willing to offer Amare the max (which I doubt he'd say no to).

I'm not guaranteeing that that was the deal - it's what the insider reported. It would work $$-wise, though. And Phoenix may want to try getting the best team possible while they still have Nash. I know Sarver is mostly about money, but Nash isn't going to be around forever - wasting him while you're in a half-rebuild kinda sucks.

You Got 4 Combo Guards on the floor together !!!

Since when are LeBron & Iggy combo guards?

Both are primarily SF's, while LeBron can play anywhere & Iggy can also play the 2.

A combo guard is somebody that is a mix between a 1 & a 2

I think this might be something interesting to ponder:

It's been bandied about that if the Sixers find someone to take on Elton Brand, they'd include their top pick..

So would you guys take Elton Brand on, if it meant getting the Sixers first round pick?

Obviously I don't know what the Cavs would give up but it'd be most of their assets (picks, expirings, young talent, etc.)..

I think it's something interesting to think about...

That's tough.

I'd be inclined to say no, because Brand's deal is just that bad.

However, if we were to take on Brand's contract, with their top pick or not, no way do I give up most of our assets.

(Mo and West can play the 1 & 2) (Lebron can play 1, 2, 3,& 4) (Iggy can play the 1, 2,& 3)

I highly doubt they'd go unprotected - not with John Wall out there.

I agree about taking on Dalembert being a good thing, BUT we'd probably have to include 1 pick.

If they offered an unprotected pick with Brand/Iggy it'd be VERY tempting. I actually think Ferry might do it if it was unprotected.

But like I said ^^, Philly wouldn't so meh.

I still think Houston is a major threat here. TMac's monster expiring, lots of intriguing talent, and a very good GM. Dont sleep on the Rockets making a bid.

Something like TMac, Scola, someone else and draft picks for Iggy and Brand/Dalembert and throw ins?

Yes, I am aware what each guy can play.

But LeBron & Iggy are not combo guards.

Combo guards are guys that have the attributes of both guard spots, but don't fit the at either position.

LeBron & Iggy are not guards, even though they can play the guard spots on occasion.
