LeBron: "We hated Clevelanders growing up"

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think this move to Miami shows who are the true Cleveland cavalier fans and the loyal supporters of Cleveland. It's a great way to find out who's real and who's phony. When was the last time that this forum only had 45 members online unless it was the middle of the night?

This move weeds out the LeBron fan from the Cavs fan..... hopefully the Cavs can rebuild quickly because the move to Miami, even though it was his choice and has the right to, was pretty bitch-made.

Yeah, but our team is still fucking screwed. We can sugarcoat it and look at the positives all we want (the biggest being that James is finally exposed as a gutless monkey) but we're still fucked in the end, 45 users online or not.

The team will bounce back, maybe not right away, but it's not the death of the franchise or anything like that.

Just going through another phase of sports that plenty of franchises go through.

Wow... didn't even realize so few people were on right now.

To be honest, I expect it to be at its worst after this upcoming season. Not only is there the possibility of a lockout, which will turn away everyone but the die-hard fans, but you're seeing a lot of fans cling to the team right now because of the betrayal they felt on July 8th. They want to see the team dismantle LeBron's giant ego this season. But of course, win or lose, after that feeling of revenge has passed for those that aren't true Cavs fans, they'll likely go back to ignoring the team for the most part. A lockout would only exacerbate this problem, putting empty space in between the first season without LeBron and the games following.

Too bad that we now have Lebron apologists on here that joined June of 2010 or July of 2010.

It's been a really boring off season as well. Gone are the "watch" threads as we aren't getting anyone worth talking about for a while

Thank goodness for off topic EAYOR

The league really has to do something. We can also see another team forming in New York if 'Melo shakes and CP3 soon to follow. That will leave Cleveland, Toronto, Denver and New Orleans to scramble and find a way to regroup. Hell, PHX will probably decline due to Amar'e's departure as well.

Bring back hand-checking and get rid of the 3 second rule as well as displacement rule and see how quickly these "superstars" turn into good players and those teams into not so great. Oh, and Dwight Howard into Shaquille O'Neal v2

Of course you fail to mention he had the best team of his 7 year career this year and a great shot at a championship had he not decided to quit halfway through the playoffs this year.

Bottom line: 0 ... how and why he ended up there is another discussion that we've done to death.

Before you go asking his critics to admit he has a better shot at winning a championship in Miami, you first need to acknowledge it was due to LBJ lack of heart he does not have a championship already.

I don't need his "critics" to admit it, they already do; nor do I need to admit that a "lack of heart" is the reason he doesn't have one already. His heart was never questioned until the Celtics series, he earned the benefit of the doubt even if you refuse to grant it.

You are off your rocker if you think LBJ's decision had anything to do players from previous generations languishing with big contracts on crappy teams.

No. You're "off your rocker" if you don't see how he's driven to be the greatest player and how EVERYONE tells him he'll never be that until he wins rings.

It is amazing how so many people (both in Cleveland and nationally) see through LBJ's act and persona these days, yet there are those who cannot see the forest through the trees as it relates to him.

I'm amazed by all the people suddenly shocked to find out things about LeBron that I've known or realized for years.

LBJ wanted the lifestyle. He wanted South Beach, the club scene, the nighlife, the celebrities and all that goes with living in Miami.

If that's what he wanted he would have gone to NYC or LA, albeit to most people his age, anything would beat Cleveland.

A championship is nice if it happens, but it was not his primary consideration.

You're wrong and fact is there's nothing wrong with pursuing multiple things at once. It's not a character flaw to wish to have fun, win, make scads of money, hang with friends, party, etc, etc. It can be a distraction, but the great players can set the distractions aside.

None of those changes would turn Dwight Howard into Shaq v2.

He ruined any chance he had at being the greatest player ever by going to Miami. No ring he wins will EVER mean as much as a single ring that Jordan won, and Jordan is the standard when you're talking about the "Best Ever".

If he truly wanted to be known as the greatest, he would have stayed here. He needed to win multiple rings as the franchise player and clear leader of the pack, it's not happening now.

I hope you're right. A lot will depend on fan support, and whether there's anyone or any thing worth watching about the team. Gilbert was smart to force the season ticket holders to pay up before "The Decision" and that will give him a one year buffer to re-work the team. Even lousy teams have a young star in the making type that the fans will come out to see. I doubt JJ can fill that role for us, and it's a year away before we can test the lottery waters.

Las Vegas is still waiting for a team...

Tom Boswell made a point in the Washington Post this morning about the Nationals that I've been espousing for years ... that championships are very rare, and it's no sure thing; but it's still a special treat to be able to watch young talented players with star-talent develop. He's of course giddy over getting to watch Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg develop. The Cavs may not get so lucky as to draft a once in a generation type player again, but we need someone or some thing to capture the fan's imagination.

Well, even if Las Vegas is waiting for a team, it won't matter. Gilbert and the Cavs and Cleveland are all stuck together for the long-haul(thanks to the casinos).

The Cavs will have plenty of lottery picks over the next few years to watch develop, they just can't screw them up.

You may be right, and if that's the ultimate backlash to "The Decision" then he made a misjudgment - but we're talking about how LeBron sees things - not how others see him. As you know he's been making misjudgments left and right of late; but you might keep in mind looking at him here and now is not fair. Few thought Jordan was going win a championship the way he played - that is until he finally did. I still doubt he'd have 1/2 the championships he ended up with if he wasn't the leagues darling and the refs didn't let him play night in and night out like Wade did .vs. Dallas in the finals. It's near impossible to beat a team if you can't keep them off the line.

Why? Is the casino deal tied in to the Cavs staying?

Even if fans hit the casino after a game, it may not be enough to stop the venture from bleeding money.

I just don't think that was what LeBron wanted with his move to Miami.

I'm starting to agree with the whole "he's trying to re-create his high school years" theory. The problem that LeBron will eventually realize is that the hero worship that he's been privy to his entire career, most notably high school, won't be there and I think that's going to be a realization that eventually comes crashing down on him.

He just cheapened everything with the way he did it and with what he did, he cheapened any future success, he cheapened the game, the league...it's unfortunate he simply isn't mature enough to realize it. He's still a child, he has the mind of a child, the attitude of a child, the decision making of a child. It's disappointing, he had every chance to be the greatest and pissed it away but he won't care as long as his yes-men continue to nod their heads when he asks if he's still the best, the coolest, etc.

I don't think the idea of greatness was even in his thought process when making the decision. It's disappointing as a fan of the game that the only guy who had the ability to become the greatest purposefully ignored that "destiny", he shunned it, and I suppose that was his choice...but like I said...it's disappointing. It's like Vince Carter's career on steroids.
