2024 Guardians Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's how I saw it. Probably not too many others do. I listed 5 examples of him doing that. There are others. How else do you explain the wretched Myles Straw playing in 135 games last season?
I assume this isn't serious.

Stupid pointless question, but I will still throw it out there.

If we had Lofton in center, do we trade Kwan or do we just make the high OBP work for us at the top of the order. And if so, where would you bat Lofton and where do you bat Kwan?
You don't trade a player like Kwan unless there is a suitable replacement and the return fills a need and puts you over the top.

Just saying "forget trading Kwan" is shallow/narrow minded. It's impossible to have an informed opinion without knowing exactly what is being returned. If you're telling me that I can get Jesus Luzardo with Kwan then I have to think long and hard about it. Clearly having Luzardo is a game changer, but who replaces Kwan? My guess would be Brennan and there some give and take there, but getting Luzardo is probably worth the difference between Kwan and Brennan. Either way it would not be an easy decision.

I don't care either way, but I have to ask why? Many were quick to get on the bandwagon that condemmed Bauer and rightfully so, but now that the truth has come to light why are those same people not quick to realize what happened to him and backpedal a bit?

I doubt Trevor is the same stupid kid he was when he was here in Cleveland so I don't think the idea of bringing him back should be totally shitcanned. Also, I can see him having a much better realationship with Vogt than he had with Tito.

It's an interesting dynamic and we sure could use him in the rotation. I wish that wasn't the case and the idea is certainly tarnished to say the least, but I think this team is ready and adding Bauer would/could be game changing.

I'm not sure Vogt is looking for that kind of relationship.

What kind is that? Many thought that our beloved Cookie was an asshole too. I'd be concerned with who Trevor Bauer is today and not what he was 5 yrs ago. I'm not sure how they would go about deciphering that information though. I'd guess face to face conversations need to happen and an understanding had. Talking with teammates could be useful too. Honestly, I think his ability and knowledge could be very useful.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for someone like Mookie Betts and I'll take his opinion of Trevor over an ill informed poster on a random board. That includes all of us including me so don't take/make it personal.

er from years ago,

100%
The fast start by the Guard's I hope can change the FO perspective.
Vogt playing a rotation of players in rotation, instead of playing favorites has made an impact.
We have a good lead, but it won't last long with such thin SP.
Bieber is gone. Williams isn't coming anytime soon. McKenzie is a shell of himself. There's really nobody ready in Columbus.
There's no need to have a grudge on a player from years ago. The only argument I can think of against Bauer is the possible negative effect he could have on the young pitchers.
I certainly don't think the fans would have a problem.
He would sign a minimum contract with incentives. Sign Bauer today.

The other choices are:
1. Watch this start slip away in one month.
2. Trade valuable assets for people like Blackburn or Luzardo.

His post wasn’t about Bauer. It was a reply to Statman saying Tito played guys because they had higher salaries.

I don't find it unreasonable to question Trevor's character based on his antics while in Cleveland, but again, that was 5 yrs ago.

I think it is more likely that Bauer has an extremely positive effect on our young pitchers.

Bauer will get an opportunity to rebuild his character and I'd rather see that happen while he's pitching lights out in Cleveland than with the Yankees, Orioles, Braves or Padres.

If they don't sign Bauer and decide they need to acquire a SP then we're looking at possibly dealing any of Kwan, Clase and/or a host of young, talented players we'd probably prefer to keep. You're not getting a SP of Bauer's ilk with Brennan, Rocchio or Cantillo.

I suggest they do their homework on the matter instead of just abruptly dismissing the idea. What's fucked up is the fact that changing a perception is a lot more difficult than creating one. Such is life.

@CDAV45 ... The same people on the other side of the bridge (Bauer on the downside... the same CleFO guys on the upside) are who makes the decision.. Vogt has to be on board.. and he may be more than willing to take that on.. The feelings and burned bridge takes more than a W/L record to mend..

fwiw.. kids will be kids & everyone doesn't deserve a second chance..

btw..I agree that if Bauer's going to pitch in MLB.. he could do a LOT worse than Cleveland..

I think that was meant to be a joke.

The issues with Bauer and the Guardians specifically have little/nothing to do with his alleged conduct against women.

But trust me, they would never have him in this clubhouse again. Even with Francona no longer the manager.

I get that he was a talented pitcher at one time and may very well still be one, but if he is ever able to make it back to the majors, it won’t be in Cleveland. I’d bet my life savings on that.

And the sexual misconduct allegations won’t be the primary reason why like they are for a bunch of other clubs.
