Browns Bentley Says Knee Injury Disappointing, Blessing

BEREA, Ohio -- Browns Center LeCharles Bentley said that his knee injury was a disappointment, but also a blessing and it will make him a better player.
"(I have) zero doubt that I will make a complete recovery and play again. It will be challenging for me. I will be a better player, and I'm excited about it," Bentley said during his first press conference Wednesday.
The 6-foot-2-inch, 309-pounder underwent surgery Friday to repair a torn patellar tendon in his left knee, NewsChannel5 reported.
Bentley, the free agent the Browns signed during the off-season, was injured on the first of 11-on-11 team drills in last week's practice at the Browns training camp in Berea.

Appearing in front of the media for the first time since suffering a season-ending torn patellar tendon a week ago, Browns center LeCharles Bentley said Thursday it’s only a matter of time before he’s back in a uniform – and when he gets back, he’ll be better than ever.

“There is zero doubt in my mind that I will make a complete recovery and be able to play again,” Bentley said. “I know this is going to end up being a blessing for me. I’m going to end up being a better player having gone through this process. I’m really excited about it.”

Just how will he be a better player after suffering a near career-ending injury?

“There are many aspects to a football player,” Bentley said. “After going through this process, I know that I’ll be mentally tougher. I’ll know my body much better than I did in the past. I’ll know my capabilities. I’ll know my limitations and I know when times get tough, I’ll have something to fall back on.

“I don’t want to say that I wouldn’t be great without this, but if you look in history, all great people have to go through something like this in their life. I believe that this is one of my events that will make me the best.”

I really hope Bentley can come back 100%... But, I don't want to force him into action when he isn't ready... So I would take this with a lot of caution, because of the type of inury this is, and how much we have invested in him.

I love his attitude and hard-working personality... Let's just the best, and that he is right..
