Re: Current Record: 13-53...Samardo & Shyt.. Undersized Twin Towers take no prisoner

No matter how bad the Cavs have been they've never sunk to the levels of the direction and production of the broadcasts on FSN Ohio where we miss probably 20% of the game action because of closeups of players, shots of coaches or players on the bench or people in the crowd, or interviews or the idiotic behind the scenes junk which is shown while the ball is in play.
I get more frustrated with that than I do the poor play we see.

Got to agree with you Narl, this behind the scenes garbage, while at times perhaps a smidge interesting, drives me nuts when you end up missing seeing part of the game. Some of us (perhaps mentally deranged) still care and WANT to watch it!

They probably have the interns running the broadcast because they can't afford professionals anymore. This may be due to decreased ad revenue, judging by the production values of the commercials, where the guy from the Cleveland Jewelry Company is the only person in the world who's hairstyle might be improved by a graduate of The Cut Beauty School.

Almost makes me glad I've had to stream all the games since Christmas...

I still laugh every time I see that Cleveland Jewelry guy. It's also funny how it seems that a big selling point for him in the ad is the graphic that comes up "now located in front of Wal-Mart."

I would like to see one game where we can see the ball being in-bounded and the early offense rather than picking up almost every possession after 6-10 seconds of the shot clock has expired.

There are still probably 4 games left the Cavs might have a shot to get a win but the only game I care about winning is March 29.

This article is basically everything we know, but I hadn't heard this last part anywhere else. Sounds like the coach is whipping JJ's butt. Nice.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — J.J. Hickson has seen the measuring tape up close, so he knows exactly how tall he is. He's not 7 feet, or even 6-11.

He's 6-9, and he knows at that height his future in the NBA is not as a center, but as a power forward. Too many centers in the league are much bigger and stronger for him to consistently compete at that position. So while Cavaliers coach Byron Scott admitted the move to start 7-0 Ryan Hollins at center the past two games was more about adding length to the rotation, it also allowed Hickson to move back to his natural spot at power forward.

And while Hickson's play at that position has been up-and-down this season, he realizes it's an adjustment he must make. In his first game moving back to power forward, Hickson had 17 points and 17 rebounds against New Jersey on Wednesday.

It took concentration to focus on crashing the boards for rebounds, he said.
"A lot of the plays we run for the four-man are on the perimeter," Hickson said. "I have to make a conscious effort to position myself by the basket."

Hickson said he learned much of what he knows about grabbing rebounds from former teammate Ben Wallace, now with the Detroit Pistons. At 6-9, Wallace also was an undersized center who was a dominant rebounder in his prime.

"The main thing I learned from Ben is how to position my body and knowing that it's a battle of feet to get the rebound," Hickson said. "It's a mix of technique and will to get the ball."
The fact Hickson is so focused on gathering rebounds now, after starting the season with low totals, is encouraging to Scott.

"He's come a long way in a short period of time," Scott said. "To the point where we were butting heads earlier, to now where he listens to everything I say. He's matured a lot in less than a year, and I think he'll continue to grow."

It's hard to argue he's made some great strides. I used to think he'd only be able to average 8 rebounds at best, but he probably could have a couple seasons around 10 per game if he keeps it up.

All I ask is:

It took him until NOW to figure this out?!

Re: Current Record: 13-53...Samardo & Shyt.. Undersized Twin Towers take no prisoner

He's only 22 >_>

Some guys in the league are close to retirement and still haven't learned it....

Unfortunately rebounding can be a zero-sum game. JJ's has impressively raised his per36 average up to 10.7 per game almost matching Andy's 10.9, but the guys he's playing with are averaging 6.0 and 8.1 - or what JJ was averaging before he "saw the light". The Cavs are 26th in the league in own-rebounding and 25th in the league in opponents-rebounding. Last year we were 11th and 2nd, and the previous year we were 7th and 4th.

We did out-rebound the Pistons pretty handily but they're ranked 29th and 19th in own/opp rebounding.
