Very sad news. I remember he was a phenomenal defensive presence with the Nuggets, Hawks, and 76ers. More importantly, he gave back immensely to his homeland, having a hospital built in Congo, among many other humanitarian endeavors. He's one of the most generous athletes ever.

I had the opportunity to meet him on a couple occasions.

He is amazing with kids, even if he is rather gruff sometimes!

He will pull through!

His family hasn't released that information yet. I do know it's not typical for that kind of info to be released to the public if it's benign, so sadly I'm expecting the worst for Mr. Mutombo. :/

Mutombo was one of the greatest defensive players of all time, yet he is a greater human being. Prayers go out to him and his family.
