Ok, so I have never had a fantasy baseball team before so I have no clue how to draft. Luckily, I have the first pick in the draft...any suggestions on who to draft? I like Pujols but Hanley Rameriz intrigues me...

Also, when should I draft my first pitcher, should I draft a relief pitcher, and is their anyone I should avoid?

Thanks guys

Avoid Johnny Peralta, but make sure you take Tommy Hanson on the Braves somehwere in the draft.

You can't really go wrong between Pujols and Hanley. Some will take Pujols because of his ability to hit 40+ HRs and drive in 120+ RBI every season on a consistent basis, all while maintaining an average somewhere in the .300s. But when it comes to Hanley, I'm more on his side because of the comparison in positional value. Ramirez is a SS, which has much less talent than 1st base. Sure, you have guys like Jeter, Rollins, and Tulowitzki... but after those guys, there is a significant drop off in productive shortstops. Ramirez will hit for average, power, and is extremely fast on the base paths, making him one of the most well-rounded players in the league. I've seen him play one year on Florida's Opening Day, and the kid hit a leadoff triple. Needless to say, I've been a fan of his ever since and try and he is always my pick when I own one of the top picks in my leagues.

It's whatever you want though, like I said before you can't go wrong with either player. I would try and take a top tier pitcher with your 3rd rounder, someone like King Felix, Greinke, or CC, if they're still there. Doing a mock draft will definitely help you get a feel for the whole draft process and where a lot of players will be falling in your draft. ESPN has a pretty good one: http://games.espn.go.com/flb/mockdraftlobby

Good luck man!!

I have Johnny on my roster again this year. I know last year he sucked, but i figure that he is locked into 3rd base because we are not to deep at 3rd.ss.and2nd so Johnny will be playing ever day and he never really gets injured.

Also in espn he gets 3rd and ss eligible, I feel like he wont hit alot of homers but he will be a guy that can get alot of runs and rbis.

im curious why you dont like him this year.

Do you think Manny Acta will help a guy like Johnny become better.

QUICK ?

Ervin Santana and Joe Saunders from the angles were available and Westbrook and Carmona are available. I took Santana, but i really want to take Carmona, i hear he is killling it in spring ball. Out of those four who is the best fantasy bb bet.????

bump, let me get a response on Carmonas Value.

Santana and Saunders are a safe bet. Jake won't really do much for you in fantasy. But Carmona has the potential to be a top of the line guy. At the same time, he also has the potential to be a complete bombshell

You have the luxury of the back-to-back picks in the 2nd and 3rd round (assuming it's that type of draft), so a pitcher in either of those spots should be a good pickup. Always, always, always get a solid closer. Saves could be a huge breaking point in any given week. And you never know, they could add to K's, ERA, Wins, and everything else pitching wise. Do some mock drafts and take note of where people fall generally- it helps to have "experience" going into it.

Good luck!

Question, thoughts on Jason Heyward and his worth?

Question, thoughts on Jason Heyward and his worth?

In a league full of fantasy junkies-
Heyward went for $30 in an auction draft. Similar players at that value were:
Aramis Ramirez
Papelbon
Gallardo
Kershaw
Wieters

His value may be a little inflated because its a keeper league.

But, scouting says he has the patience of Pujols and definitely has power.
Projections aren't that great though:
AVG R HR RBI SB
.274 73 17 57 10

From what it looks like, guys like Jay Bruce or Carlos Gonzalez are of better value.
But if Heyward is available in rounds 15 and beyond- no risk pick

Sleepers you should grab if possible

Pittsburgh CF Andrew McCutchen

Braves IF Jason Heyward (Obvious)

Cardinals OF Colby Rasmus

Indians P Fausto Carmona

Twins P Francisco Liriano (injury risk)

Rangers OF Julio Borbon

Oakland OF Raji Davis
