Fedor summed it up nicely:
The Magic are horrible. They were also without two of their top three leading scorers -- Cole Anthony and Wendell Carter Jr. First-year swingman Franz Wagner, second on that scoring list, exited after just seven minutes because of an ankle injury. And yet, Orlando, unable to even hit the 90-point threshold in the previous two games, scored its second-most points all season while shooting 50.5% from the field and 45.7% on 3s.
So a team that was without all three of their leading scorers (except for 7 minutes) got 120 points - their second highest total of the season. Un-fucking-believable.
As Bickerstaff said, they "outcompeted" the Cavaliers. No excuse for being outworked in a game like this.
The Cavs got out to a 14-3 lead and thought it would be a cakewalk. They didn't bother to guard Mo Bamba, who nailed four straight uncontested 3's to bring the Magic right back into the game before the Cavs even tried to put a hand up. That's when the Magic realized the win was there for the taking if they wanted it.
They let a bench player averaging 4.2 points per game get 20. They effed up another inbounds pass and committed a lane violation. Rondo threw two horrible long cross court passes that were easily stolen for breakaways.
Like I said in the preview, young teams playing with no pressure except to impress management for next season are very dangerous if you open the door. And the Cavs definitely opened the door.
