I need an excuse for work so I can witness tonight

I got less than 40 minutes to come up with a valid excuse to call off work so I can watch tonights game. Any suggestions? In 4 months I have called in once sick.
I can't miss this important game!

Yeah thats probably what I was gonna go with but I was hoping somebody might have a good one and not use the generic excuse.

i mean all you really need to say is "im taking a sick day" and that should cover it, "family emergency" may work, but its never good to flat out lie to your boss, it can always come back somehow. but im sure you will be fine.

Thta's exactly what happens at my old job. And that's one of the reasons I quit.
Those who graduated from High School and get a job and then have the nerve to have their mother's call them off.

This one time this guy's girlfriend called him off. That ticked me off to the high heavens.

But even when I would call myself off because I has strep throat and sounded HORRIBLE, my manager would give me shit about it. Not to mention I was like 6 months pregnant. <-- I had the most GHETTO job ever... Maybe I'll write a thread about it one day.

So I got fed up with the b.s. and I just didn't go in one day.

My last job I gave them a year and a half making 6.30 never got my raise. ALWAYS went in when someone else didn't...never showed up, boss calls and says..."you work today" and I said "not for you".
