I’ve seen enough. He’s getting better. Bring him back next year. It’s all about guys making shots.

RJ went out of his way to praise the ATO at the start of the 4th and later talked about what a fantastic coaching job JBB did tonight with great adjustments. He’s likely well aware of some of the criticism directed JBB’s way and swatted that down like Mobley rejecting Franz Wagner.

Going on record now, I will be big mad if JBB is shit canned this spring/summer...

EDIT:

Only if Don is like absolutely no way, which I have a hard time imagining..

Man people really do have short memories here, one win against an awful Orlando team at home and suddenly he’s a good coach…? We got hella lucky Orlando are an awful road team. They couldn’t shoot for shit the second half.

JB still has not won a road game in the play offs

His teams still struggle to hit 100 points in playoff games and that’s now over a very large sample size.

We could have won this series 4-1 / 4-2 even with the injuries. Orlando are really really bad. And we have Donovan Mitchell

The iso heavy offense is garbage, objectively. We also play so fucking slow it’s excruciating. Against a team that presses like Orlando does you need to push the pace get the ball up the floor quickly. Not take 8 seconds to get the ball over half court every fricken offense to then jack up a contested 3. How many times this series did Orlando steal the ball off a pick n roll attempt? Just shitty predictable baby simple offense

Go watch the western conference game, we would have gotten smoked by any team in the west 1 through 8 and it’s not even close, Knicks, healthy bucks, 76rs, Miami with a healthy Butler beat us also. We just got lucky we played a dog shit team led by a 22 year old
Would love to hear your assessment on this away game blowout win over the best team in the east……l

It’s been the weirdest shit ever, but I think JB has actually been pretty good in this years playoffs. What is wrong with me?

I will give JB credit. I still think on offense it's mostly players just executing, but on defense he drew up an effective gameplan and communicated it well, and it was wildly successful.

Of course, having such an incredible defensive player like Evan Mobley is a big reason why it worked, but it worked nevertheless.

Oh I think plenty of people will be big mad over JBB this offseason.

He’s a young coach with a young team that hasn’t gone very far in the playoffs before now.

Younger people have the opportunity to learn from mistakes. I can tell you as someone at the end of a long career that wisdom comes from learning from all the stupid mistakes you made and watched others make.

Short version - from stupidity comes wisdom (if you are willing to learn).

I’d say JBB is like many on the team and the team itself - far from a finished product, learned a lot this year, has shown ability to learn, done enough to likely get another year but can fairly be criticized.

I’d be concerned any new hire might not make a significant positive difference. It’s not like there’s some fantastic hire waiting for our call.

If we do keep JBB another year we have to get more offensive ideas. Maybe that’s a good assistant hire.

If we win this series the mods need to make a special segregated forum for JBB and Koby haters and force them to repeatedly apologize before they are let out back into gen pop

Maybe even if it goes to 7 and the league office steals it from us with a bullshit call

I do not want to become a W Pacers fan but I will!

I don’t think you & I will be the angry ones though.

What a ridiculous job NBA head coach is. We were down 18 Game 7 and they were already printing his resignation speech upstairs. Less than a week later he beats Boston in Game 2 and now has to be at least even money to return.

Of course we could get blown out at home Saturday night and the howls for his defenestration will return with a vengeance.
