So I heard rumors that a big name pg was transferring to Cleveland State for the 2011 season. Low and behold, I just read this tweet:

@CSUVikingsHoops RT @CoachAnsberry: rumors swirling that former UD player Juwan Staten going to transfer to CSU #DaytonFlyers #CSUVikings

For those who don't know, Staten was a top 50 recruit in the 2010 class (link) Played for Dayton this season. Stared at Oak Hill Academy as their PG. Not a bad replacement for Norris Cole. Adding Staten, Anton Grady, and Charles Lee, along with D'Aundrey Brown coming back from injury and Jeremy Montgomery returning, I think CSU may have an awesome team next season. Much more balanced and won't have to rely on one guy to score.

Staten can play, I'm bummed to see him leaving my Flyers after this season. He wasn't utilized appropriately by head coach Brian Gregory (who's headed to Georgia Tech), very few players were. Not a big Gregory fan but best of luck to Staten I suppose. Shame to see him go for us UD folk, but if he has to go anywhere it might as well be to another team I like.

Wouldn't he have to sit out next year due to transferring?

If it happens, big coup. Grady plus Staten would be a nice foundation.

As for next year, remember the name Sebastian Douglas.

Did they RS him this year? ,I know he wasn;t highly touted, but I gotta think that going against Cole in practice would rub off somehow.

I really hope Waters doesn't bolt for Dayton.

Hurt his knee during an All-Star game last spring. When he came to CSU, coaches realized something was wrong. Turned out he actually tore his ACL. Probably woulda gotten 5-10 mins a game as Norris' backup if healthy.

Watched him play in the state semi-final and final his his junior year. Kid can flat out ball.

Staten announced via Twitter he's going to Penn State. Oh well. Still psyched about Grady.

Staten won't be playing any NCAA ball till 2013.

Another reason to hate Penn State. Bunch of cunts

Meh. BCS conferences always have an upper hand. At least in basketball teams get to play on a neutral field in the tourney.

Of course, when Norris Cole gets drafted before Taylor Battle, we can say, "CSU prepares you for the NBA better".

I cannot wait to see Grady, Lee & Douglas next year. Grady has some serious potential and could be the best big in the Horizon.

looks like these rumblings were misguided...
