@Los216 would have been a legendary caller for Pete. In fact several posters on this site would have been classic. More recent fans didn‘t have to live through the absolutely horrible years of the Indians or Ted Stepien, although the Browns up until recently were just terrible. Pete had group therapy for the Cleveland sports fan. Watching Carmelo Castillo circle a fly ball or Steve Comer try to drag his start to the fourth inning was just brutal. And the Stadium - a complete shithole.Franklin got me through the 70s, other than the Miracle our sports teams were crap. I still remember listening to Pete when we traded for Julio Franco,,,classic stuff. Those were the days sports talk today sucks.
Yes.Jesus my kids think I’m old. You people were listening to things in the 70s when you were older than me now probably.
Does it get better or worse?
Me! As a transplant, radio (via the internet) is a great to feel like you’re amongst your fellow fans even when not.Triv was interesting in the early days, but like most talk show hosts, burned out and became repetitive and dreary. After Clear Channel fired his producer, Marty, and staff, Triv became bitter and unlistenable to me. They stuck him with young happy talk sidekicks and Triv hated his own show. His death was sudden, and I'm sorry to here of it. He was a fixture in Cleveland radio, but who listens to radio anymore?
For me, better.Jesus my kids think I’m old. You people were listening to things in the 70s when you were older than me now probably.
