I seem to be very fond of all of Cleveland and Ohio State's commentators, so here is my third "Announcer" Appreciation thread. I'm sure Jim Donovan has one coming one of these days. Poor dude just doesn't have anything to call right now.

No offense, but Keels is so bad. He has heavenly pipes, but that's about it. I will say that he is better at basketball than football.

He did get slightly better with his enthusiasm this year, but historically, he's does a lousy job painting a picture with his voice. He also seems to know little to nothing about the team. I can picture him with his roster sheet in front of him as the game goes on as he rattles off that information after pretty much every play. "And the tackle is made by Steve Brown, the junior from Dublin, Ohio with an assist by Malik Jones the sophomore from Cleveland's Glenville High School."

His best moments are in situations where more than one player wears the same number. It's pretty much a coin flip that he gets that player correctly identified even when one is black the other is white.

I find it so hard to believe that a school like Ohio State cannot find someone better to be the voice of the Buckeyes.

I do tend to agree that he's not the best at painting a picture, but he does let you know what happened and doesn't often fall behind. I rarely listened to full Buckeyes games on the radio this season since I was either there in person or able to watch on television.

I prefer his basketball, but I did listen to the Big Ten Championship game, and I thought he called it pretty well. His highlights are where he really shines, similar to John Michael.

Here's some vintage Keels basketball for ya:
