I have a HP Slmline 5120 and my usb ports seem to go in and out of operation, usually putting my computer to sleep will resolve this. Lately, the computer won't go to sleep, the monitor will shut off but the tower stays in limbo. (As an aside, I was getting a lot of blue screening saying bad pool header, are these issues related?)

Any suggestions?

This one is more an internet question, if I wanted to learn the basics on how to build websites, is there a good site or books you'd recommend to check out? I'm looking for a new hobby and this has recently been piquing my interest.

Thanks in advance!

Re: USB problems. Have you updated your drivers recently? If no; see if there is an update either from HP's website or through windows update. If yes; try to revert to older drivers from before you had problems. Driver software is usually the culprit in these kinds of things

Re: Blue Screen. Have you installed any new programs lately? I ran in to chronic BSOD for a while because i had installed a 32bit program on my 64bit OS. I uninstalled and installed the proper program and it fixed my BSOD issues completely.

Im no IT guru, just a nerd who has experienced similar issues before. Software/driver installs are usually the first place to go with these kinds of issues

It's an HP. It's probably a shitty motherboard.

Was thinking the same thing. Faulty USB, bad pool headers, and problems with sleep/hibernate would all be Motherboard-centric problems. Only other thing it could be would be your PSU.

Please take a picture (with your phone) of the BSOD, also go into your Event Viewer after the BSOD, locate the error and post the data here.

That way we don't have to guess what the problem is.. ;)

Last time I offered up gourimoko dump data, he didn't help any more than Microsoft's support's page. ;)
