For the Magic:

Rashard Lewis – Day-to-day, sprained right ankle
Trevor Ariza– Day-to-day, tendonitis, right foot

Missing Persons

Anderson Varejao : kidnapped by a Fegan
Aleksandar Pavlovic : appointed Serbian King by father

Game Notes

Anything goes in a preaseason game, and that wont change in China. Both teams will be looking to put on a good exhibition for the crazed fans, so we may possibly see a more relaxed defensive showing. With Rashard Lewis likely out, the focus will be on freak athlete Dwight Howard. We usually handle him ok, but its the lesser lights that shine against us.

If JJ Redick does start, I would like to see us isolate Larry on him. Surely this is a matchup we can take advantage of without taking 20 footers. Likewise LeBron with the Turk.

This game is being shown worldwide, so hopefully it will be a good spectacle.

 Rep for that one. Definitely made my morning...

Going to watch the first Cavs game to be televised this season (or pre-season for that matter) here in my country. I am so pumped up!

This game is on at 8pm for me. Finally a game played at a decent hour.

8:30pm here. Yeah, these kind of games are rare.

For all you Aussies, this game will be on ESPN live at 10pm, not 8pm like I guessed earlier. Looking forward to seeing the Cavalier's in action for the first time this season.

Didnt expect the game would be on here until one of my friends said it was on. My first look at the team this season too.

Some good, some bad, the end was just ugly. Orlando was clearly trying to win, the Cavs were trying to get the second unit some burn. Orlando had 6 players that played over 15 minutes...we had 10. They had guys playing 40, 37, 35...we had no one over 28mins.

The offense I thought looked better. Lebron, Z and Larry looked comfortable. It hurt not having Gibson out there. Defensively we got torched by Howard when the 2nd unit was on the floor. I would have liked to see a couple starters playing more with the second unit because that's the situation they will be in once the season starts. Seeing Ira, Jones, Brown, Brown, and Tolliver on the floor almost the whole 4th quarter was just ugly...and I'm not sure it accomplished much.

One other thing that was a riot was the announcing. I swear I don't think Hubie mentioned Gibson once, it was as if he had no idea he was missing(sore hamstring by the way). And hearing him call Sasha "Petrovic" the entire game had me wondering if he was drinking Saki Bombs. The one guy would say "Pavlovic" almost with emphasis to straighten Hubie out, but no, Hubie would bounce right back with "Petrovic". Sasha had to be pissed watching it...he and his dad are probably outside slaughtering a herd of goats right now.

LOL. The Cavs started the game extremely well. Ilgauskas was initially getting the better Howard. The ball movement and offball movement was great and we found holes in the defense with ease. Larry even got in a groove for a period. Eventually the Magic started to expose our lack of quickness at point guard (Damon and Devin). Nelson got inside with ease and eventually this lead to Dwight Howard eating Dwayne Jones up.

LeBron James look very good. He was heads and shoulders better then everyone out there without exerting much effort.

The good bal movement stopped and motion ceased in the 2nd half after we gave away a couple of offensive fouls for illegal screens. We went back to high pick and rolls which was innective when being done with Devin or Shannon with Dwayne Jones. Devin looked quite good initially running the point. He penetrated and made some nice passes. However it did get sloppy and a few turnovers resulted.

Dont think we should be concerned but Drew Gooden again struggled. He was defended by Garrity and Turkoglu in general and looked mediocre against that mediocre defense. Shannon made some nice moves but pressed a little. Ira Newble just shouldn't shoot.

Overall though a solid performance going up against a team that played its starters regular season minutes. We should have won, but these things happen in preseason games. The new offense looked good, but struggled to stay with it.

Magic Squeak Past Cavs at NBA China games

SHANGHAI, China, Oct. 17 (AP) -- The NBA took another step toward expanding its presence in China on Wednesday, with the Orlando Magic defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 90-86 in an exhibition game behind Dwight Howard's 31 points and 14 rebounds.

The game, featuring LeBron James and attended by NBA commissioner David Stern, was played at Qizhong Arena on the outskirts of Shanghai. The teams play again Saturday in the former Portuguese territory of Macau. On Thursday in Macau, the Magic face a Chinese all-star team, part of the NBA's "China Games.''

Jameer Nelson added 24 points for Orlando, while James led Cleveland with 17 and Larry Hughes scored 16. James played only 28 minutes and Hughes 27, both resting late in the game when Orlando rallied to take control.

Orlando tied it 84-84 on Howard's inside basket with 1:16 to play and then drew away, with Nelson hitting four of four free throws down the stretch.

Orlando trailed 46-42 at halftime and took its first lead at 49-48 on a dunk by Howard. But James scored two fast-break baskets - one on a slam - to give the Cavaliers a 61-53 lead with 5:21 to play in the third quarter. The Cavs were up 72-64 entering the fourth period, but the lead slipped away, with James and Hughes on the bench.

Before the game, Stern discussed the NBA's new China subsidiary, NBA China. Timothy Chen, one of China's top business executives, began work Monday as the company's new chief executive officer. Stern said long-term plans called for setting up "the second NBA, the NBA of China.''

He didn't specify what form that will take, but Stern said the expansion will involve working with the 16-team China Basketball Association.

NBA officials have said the 80-person staff in China is set to grow five times in the next several years with increased revenues sure to follow.

Stern held two days of meetings in China talking with TV partners, advertisers and sponsors about ways to expand basketball in China.

He called the project "long term'' and said the NBA was seeking financing. Ninety percent of the new subsidiary will be owned by the league. Two five-percent shares will be sold to Chinese investors and to a U.S. media company.

Varejao wannabe

I just got done watching the game. D. Howard is a beast. To bad he isn't in a Cavs uni.:(

Good game. Like what Maximus said Magic looking to win and Cavs trying to develop the bench.

It was funny when Hubie said Petrovic when he was referring to Pavlovic and the other guy said Dwight Jones instead of Dwayne Jones. Hubie also said that Dwight isn't chiseled enough. :chuckles:
