Isn’t this exciting to watch? I don’t care who they have been playing during this streak. This team is playing together and giving maximum effort on every possession. Isn’t it beautiful? The Cavs (22-33) entered Wednesday’s game with a 5 game winning streak which is the longest string of wins since that one guy left for the Miami Heat.
Jarrett Jack hit a 20 foot jumper about 2 minutes into the first quarter to score the first basket of the game and the Cavs never looked back. No lead changes. No sluggish play that let the opponent take the lead and win a game they didn’t deserve. Nope, this is a different Cavs team.
How about Mr. Tyler Zeller, right? Zeller fell out of the rotation early on when Bynum was on the roster. I remember Fred McCleod talking about a conversation he had with Tyler during that time and how Tyler kept saying that he was staying ready and couldn’t wait to get an opportunity to show how he had improved. Varejao went down with an injury and somehow the Cavs find themselves playing with more energy and winning games. I’m in no way inferring that the Cavs play better without Varejao, but I’m also enjoying these results. He scored 16 points tonight on just 5 shot attempts. Mike Brown mentioned after the game how efficient Zeller is without even having a single play called for him. Tyler had a crucial “and 1″ in the final minutes of the game to really seal the victory. Nope, not on a post up. Just an offensive rebound and put back. I’ll take that effort ALL DAY!
