<b>10. Terrelle Pryor commits to OSU.</b>
As I have said here, the final destiny of Terrelle Pryor is up in the air. But his recruitment was one for the ages. It was the first major recruiting battle between Tressel and Rich Rodriguez with the latter as the UM front man. Pryor's homestate Nittany Lions were also in the mix. It dragged on past signing day, and was, by far, the most hyped recruiting story I have ever witnessed. And it was a major coup for OSU at the time.
Let's hope when the history books are written, it is still viewed as such.
<b>9. Glenville pipeline.</b>
In 2001, Pierre Woods committed to the University of Michigan to play football. He was the first major Glenville football recruit in recent memory. The following year, Jim Tressel signed a relatively lightly heralded Glenville QB/Athlete Troy Smith. The rest, as the say, is history.
<b> </b>
<b> </b>Donte Whitner. Dareus Hiley. Curtis Terry. Ted Ginn, Jr. Jamario O'Neal. Rob Rose. Ray Small. Bryant Browning. Jermale Hines. Jermil Martin. Marcus Hall. Jonathan Newsome.
And more will be coming in the following years. Quite simply, it's the best feeder system a football coach can ask for.

"Tresselball" is too conservative. It isn't exciting. It's unimaginative. It also, apparently, develops WRs very well. The list of WRs drafted while Tressel was at the helm.

<b> </b>Michael Jenkins, 1st. Drew Carter, 5th. Santonio Holmes, 1st. Ted Ginn, Jr, 1st. Anthony Gonzalez, 1st. Roy Hall, 5th. Brian Robiskie, 2nd. Brian Hartline, 4th.
8 WRs drafted in the last 7 years, 4 of them 1st rounders, 4 of them underclassmen. All for a "slow" team.
<b>7. Beanie's Stiff Arm</b>
In 2007 and 2008, Beanie Wells had a mediocre offensive line, a questionable passing attack supporting him, and a myriad of injuries. His huge frame and quick feet helped him gain over 2800 yards in that time span, but also the fact that his arsenal of stiff arms made him rather untackleable.

A buddy of mine and I watched this game at his uncle's house in Columbus. Needless to say, we were on the edge of our respective couches for most of the game. When Krenzel let go of the ball, we all stood, slowly, in unison, both surprised and his decision and fearful of it's consequences. After the catch, our cheering was so loud, we woke up my buddies baby nephews. Oh, well.

<b>5. OSU-Texas series.</b>
The top universities in the 2 most football mad states had what turned out to be a 3 game series.

<b> </b>In 2005, Vince Young barely scraped by an awesomely talented OSU team. Part of me believes that had Texas scheduleda "rent-a-win" game instead of OSU, they wouldn't have been prepared to beat USC in that year's BCS Title game. Maybe they would've, but this was a program defining win for Mack Brown.
In 2006, it was 1 vs. 2. And OSU mostly dominated, @ Texas. Anyone who didn't know who Ted Ginn or Troy Smith were knew them afterwards.
Finally, there was the 2009 Fiesta Bowl, the rubber match at a neutral site. A seemingly outgunned OSU nearly pulled it, suffering a heartbreaking loss.
Other famed OSU series have either been too easy (ND in 95-96) or didn't go well (USC 08-09). But this series lived up to it.

Now, many people call this award the "Hypesman", and given the media circus surrounding it, they have a point. The game that followed this award was something that every Buckeye fan has tried as hard as possible to bleach from their memory.

<b> </b>But 6 years before wining this award, Troy Smith was kicked out of St. Eds. He had a lot to learn. In getting to where he got, he grew up a lot. And it was the journey of a troubled youth from inner-city Cleveland to the top of the sporting world that made this so, so special. He's a success story, and this award merely made it official.

Basically, it was the most hyped collegiate sporting event, ever.

Not so much....
