BYU now No. 9; OU drops to 13th

NEW YORK -- In the first regular-season Top 25 poll by The Associated Press, No. 9 BYU has jumped 11 spots and No. 4 Alabama has received two first-place votes.

The Cougars pulled the biggest upset of the opening weekend of the college football season, beating Oklahoma 14-13 on Saturday. Sooners Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford was knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury. Oklahoma drops 10 spots from No. 3 to No. 13.

Florida is still an overwhelming No. 1, receiving 56 of 60 first-place votes Tuesday. Texas holds steady at No. 2, with two first-place votes. Alabama moved up one spot after its 34-24 victory against Virginia Tech.

Moving into the rankings are Miami, Cincinnati and Missouri. Oregon, Florida State and Iowa fall out.

I'm all for the college experience.. However, when you have a multi-million dollar lottery ticket that has your name on it right in front of you, you have to take it...

Wud up, Sam Bradford

Cash that bitch in. You go to college to basically get paid and get started on your career. He did more than enough and in one play, draft status may take a tremendous hit .......

Mark Sanchez looks smart right about now ....

I honestly thought OSU was a bit too high at #6 after losing so many impact players. 8-10 is probably better right now, but it will probably be high teens if USC has their way with us. Gotta at least protect that ranking if we can keep it close or win.

I have to agree with you guys on this. If my son was in his position, I would tell him to go pro. One year of extra income at the pro level more than makes up for lost benefit of free education. Besides, isn’t an Oklahoma education equivalent to a junior college degree? :chuckles:

(Go Purdue)

Miami looked really strong last night its nice to see them back in the top 20 hopefully they get rid of the GAYtors in the next few years.

Michigan on the brink of the top 25 if we can beat the domers this week...

should be an interesting game.... Not sure if we can do it or not but its nice to be thinking positively for a minute at least!

Any input from the buckeye faithful on this matchup? (other than the usual michigan sucks?)

I think it's a very intriguing match-up. Both teams are coming off very easy wins over average mid-major teams. I must say that Forcier runs that offense quite efficiently and Robinson is a great change of pace guy. Clausen also looked great for ND and I think he has great offensive weapons in Tate, Rudolph, Allen, etc. At the end of the day, I think Notre Dame pulls out a close, hard-fought win on the road: 27-20.

Oh yeah......Michigan Sucks!:chuckles:

Floyd is a pimp and Rudolph is an NFL guy not to mention Tate being a great 3rd wheel... Can we get pressure and win the TO battle? We have to keep everything in front of us on defense, dont give up big plays

Forcier and Shoelace are certainly wayyyyyyyyyy better than Threet and Sheridan huh? I also think the offense will look much better once Minor is 100%

You find out your entire O-line isn't coming back for the season after you win the Heisman and you DON'T go pro? Idiot.

Agreed, and they could always go back to college after their career is over, its not like they would need to anyway seeing as their kids and grandkids should be fine money-wise with what a NFL QB makes.

Well, the SC game will determine a lot with respect to the rankings. If we win, I think they'll put us at 3 just behind the Gators and Horns. If we lose, we're obviously out of the national title picture. There is no way a one loss OSU team will be put in there. OSU has lost too much credibility with big game losses.

Protect that ranking?

I think Wulfgar1224 is almost right. It depends how it all goes. If somehow we domiante USC, we will move to #3-4. If we beat them, we will be #5. and if we lose, THEN you are right di0p, we will be in the mid-high teens.

But I feel a great upset and we are going to dominate, no matter what all you non believers are saying in here, atleast have faith ;)

Also, if any one of you want to buy me beer at a cavs game in Detroit, I will gladly accept.
