I'm new here, but hear me out: All of these players are going elsewhere - CV, Artest, Ariza - and none of them are coming to the Cavs. This can't be due to the weather - CV is going to Detroit, Artest played in Chicago, etc. - and I just can't get this notion out of my head: What if nobody is signing to be with the Cavs because they know that next year Lebron will not be here?

I am never the alarmist "Lebron-is-leaving-in-2010" guy, but this has to be a possibility, no? I mean, Lebron talked with Artest yesterday (and going by Artest's brother's twitter, this is a probable notion), and he's known CV for some time. Maybe he's letting some info on his plans slip to these guys? Sounds like a silly conspiracy, I know, but if anyone has any info on the contrary, please share it with me, as it's been driving me nutty for a while now...

Hey, there is already a thread on this.

Please, try to help limit the massive amounts of useless new threads we have.

Thank you.

Agreed. This has been beat to death and back in this place.

Let's just take those three names; first off; which of those names did you or anyone see mentioned as possibilities even the day before the FA period began? None of them. In other words, those names became available because of circumstances beyond the control of anyone. NONE of them were ever a real possibility for the Cavs unless you want to max out things this summer and have nothing to play with next summer.

Did you really want to give CV a max contract for years?? How about Ariza? I know we did offer him 5 years, but I'm really glad he turned it down.

Let's think about those two: Artest and Ariza; Artest owns a house in LA. The only way he would have came to Cleveland was if he was offered more than the MLE. NO WAY to that. Ariza is a young 24 year old hot shot who had ONE great post season last year. Actually; only a couple of really great games. So? The guy is VERY young and did not want to join a team like the Cavs where he would have been essentially the 5th guy. LeBron, Shaq, Mo, Delonte. This kid wants the spotlight so what better team to go to than Houston? He could be THE guy on that team, right?

Those are just a few reasons why I was not counting on getting ANY of those three. There are many more reasons, but like was stated above, there are plenty of threads and posts about all of this.

90% of the players in this league care about money and minutes. If they get paid then they don't care about the future of the tea,.

CV went to detroit for money, ariza and artest went to teams that will start them at their natural position sf...where we already have a pretty good one. We have not lost out on anyone that we had a realistic shot at. Ariza is a bench player in cleveland, artest wants to play sf and has a house in LA, and no 24 year old in their right mind leaves 12-15 million on the table.

I can't blame artest, he went where any player would have the best shot at winning a title, and that is LA. CV took money over basketball respect and achievement, most players do.

No one can be signed unless you pay them what they want, no matter what city your in. Cleveland will not sign anyone great in 2010 unless lebron leaves and frees up his cap and shaq's and Z and we get 3 all-stars but not superstars.

In 2010 we will sign a joe johnson or boozer level player, hopefully lebron, and hopefully tie up shaq for 2 more years. That's the best we can hope for. Not paying good players to join now for multi year deals for the future is stupid, and other gm's know this and signed good players for what the player wanted.

Ben gordon was over payed, but he is good, and so is CV. If your in a shitty city then you have to pay more to compensate for that. Detroit is, and they did. Lebron needs to stop being an attention whore and commit to the city and stop getting off on attention from NY. If he does this others might want to join, and if he does maybe he can convine a freind to play with him, like a bosh, anthony, wade, because that's the only way were getting them.

If he does decide he wants to leave, he needs to tell the organization and at least be man enough to do that so we can get some picks and all-stars for him. There are a lot of teams that would take a rental on him for one year for ticket and jersey sales alone. I hope he stays and i hope he resigns very soon because 2010 talk makes me want to vomit, and no one is to blame for that talk other then Lebron and his immaturity.

If LeBron commits doesn't that mean we can't sign another star level player. Because we would have his bird rights to sign him after we sign the star player first or does that have no implication on 2010 free agency?

Im not a bit worried whatsoever. LeBron didn't meet up with Artest according to Artests Agent, I think the PD was the only ones to make that claim, however, if LBJ did meet up with Ron why in the world would he say to Ron..."Yo Ron, I know my Cavs are interested but I wanted to say, think about it man, Im pretty sure Im leaving for NY, but it is up to you if you want."

My good friend at work is from alabama and is somehow really good friends with Maverick Carter and he says him and LeBron always laugh when people say LBJ is going somewhere else. LBJ gets pretty homesick according to Carter and to be honest I see how this cannot be the truth. LBJ is already a GLOBAL ICON and doing so from CLEVELAND, OHIO. Now the Chinese have a 15% ownership and Clevelands market suddenly got a little bit bigger.

LEBRON IS STAYING IN CLEVELAND

It doesn't work like that. Please read Smooths "2010 Cap Space" thread.
