What should the Cavs do?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is it too early to talk about next offseason? In my opinion, yes. Posters who care more about transactions than the team on the floor have always been a pet peeve of mine.

That said, Varejao plays the game the right way. For most of the 90s, the Cavs had very few playing the right way, and it poisoned the younger players. This version of the franchise isn't making that mistake, valuing players like Parker, Casspi and Varejao who try on a nightly basis. If the Cavs were offered a great package of picks for Varejao, sure go ahead and pull the trigger. But you don't trade him because he is a good player that gives high levels of effort. A franchise will go nowhere with that frame of mind, no matter who is drafted. Ask the Gunds and Jim Paxson.

Also, there is no way Jeremy Lamb is second or third off the board in this draft unless he shows that he can take over games. He has been floating along this season and is built like an effective college swingman... but not built like a pro shooting guard at the moment. He reminds me of Larry Hughes without the handles.

I agree. I know this isn’t going to be popular here because he’s been productive in UConns guard oriented offense this year, but for better or for worse J. Lambs on court movements almost mimic those of Larry Hughes. Everytime I see the kid play that’s all I can think of. This isn’t really a knock on Lamb because Hughes was a productive player when healthy but I don’t know if I’d take him ahead of some of the other wings in this draft. Also his personality as more of a quiet, try to lead to by example (or possibly not really lead at all) type player is also similar to Hughes. Hopefully if the Cavs take him he’ll be able to stay healthy, unlike Larry though.

I’m predicting Lamb will slip a little when he more than likely struggles in conference play when teams stop leaving him wide open from 3 and learn that his only move as of now is his slow, somewhat predictable crossover.

And Varajao needs to be traded immediately. He is detrimental to operation suck.

What? Good start to the site, looks like a few douchebags already.

I'm not 'obsessed' with Perry Jones. I'd much rather have Jeremy Lamb, but he's top 2-3 off the board. I'm giving the Cavs credit because I don't feel like we'll be the worst 2-3 teams in league, I'm thinking 4-7. Maybe we can bink the lottery again, but that's a long shot.

Anthony Davis is going to end up being a 4 in this league. We just drafted TT, so why would we go after him? Terrence Ross is solid, but is he worthy of a top 5 pick?

Look, I'm not saying Perry Jones is a world beater. And I understand a lot of the 'concern' with him. But, optimistically speaking, pairing a young athletic wing with lots of potential with a solid young guard (KI), is a combination worth looking in to. Hell, I'd rather have Drummond over any of them, but again, he's probably #1 off the board this year.
because his upside is way, way higher???

If we could land Drummond in the draft, I would not be opposed to going after Gordon. Would put a cap at $10 mil a year though. Anything higher, just walk away.

ADDED: Stay far away from Oden... far, FAR away.
lolll they won't even have a chance then

if this off-season has shown us anything, it's that players are still going to get absurd contracts under the new cba. that is especially true for restricted free agents who were just acquired in exchange for the teams superstar.

The more I watch this team though, the more I realize just how bad Andy needs to be traded. He's too much of a threat to win ganes for this club. We need to stay bad, and the difference between 1st and 6th could be just one game. He has to go... but who could use him? Off the top of my head:

-Memphis (Arthur is now out for the year)
-Boston (JON is their starting center.... that is all)
-Miami (no one wants to hear this, but its true.... just lack assets)
-Atlanta (Zaza is their 1st big off the bench... not a joke)
-LA Lakers (McBob isn't bad... but he aint good either)
-San Antonio (Only if they think Splitter won't cut it)
-Dallas (would be perfect there, but Cuban won't do it as he's hoping to land D-will and D12)

Its too bad PHX isn't contending anymore, because Andy would have been PERFECT for those SSOL teams.
I really doubt AV is going to win the team any games but yes I still want him out of here and have wanted that for a year.

maybe to LAL for Odom's TPE plus their 1st and the DAL 1st

Trade Andy. That's what the Cavs should do. We've worked too hard at sucking for him to fuck it up now. Damn that guys hard working, energetic, ambitious personality. And don't get me started on his veteran presence. What a d-bag.

Honestly though. I do want Andy traded, but I won't be upset if he's not. I mean, if we can get a good package from Boston (not just the Clips pick, screw that) or trade him to Sac to release the protection on that pick, sure. But I honestly see the Cavs trying to win after next season, after picking up MKG and a Bufford in the 2nd (or some other 2nd string NBA wingman). They're going to overpay for some free agents, and go for homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs with a KI/Gordan backcourt, and a MKG/Stomp/Andy. Not great, but we'd have a pretty great bench filled with our starters from last season.

(And yeah, I named TT Stomp, wanna fight about it?)

Sure thing bro, take your time. But if you get a little winded, take a break and look up MKG's decent 3pt percentage. And if you still haven't recovered from your self-indulged lol'ing, take a little extra time on your break, and go look up the phrase 'forum elitist'.

I said not to trade him unless we get a really good return, and that I was perfectly at peace with keeping the floppy haired Brazilian in a Wine and Gold uniform, which is why he was still in my future line-up.

As a fan of MKG, you are not helping your case here. Couple of reasons:

1. He's only taken 28 threes on the year, which is an incredibly small sample size
2. The college line and the NBA line are (obviously) two completely different animals. Not to mention MKG's % from the college line is only 36%

That said, I still like MKG. If only we could combine MKG's defensive abilities with Harrison Barnes' shooting...

Agreed we only trade Andy if something great comes along. Nothing wrong with shopping him but his effort and skillset is very valuable for our young guys to learn from. It would be nice if he is traded to give Erden some more burn and really get a good look at him.

Semih should be getting plenty of time once he is 100%, even if Varejao isn't traded. He should easily supplant Samardo as the C for the 2nd unit, especially with the way Samardo is playing right now.

The S.S 24 is sinking.

Yeah I see where you're coming from. Makes sense. Although, it works both ways. I can't say he's a decent shooter, just because of his decent 3pt%, because of his small sample size. But you can't also come to the conclusion that he's a terrible shooter.

Either way, I like him as well... He'd fit pretty well here, personality/mindset wise.

I hope because as this league has shown big men are given every chance to succeed. Lets hope he isn't as out of it as some reports say
