Who will be our SG for the 2016-2017 season?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Jimmy butler after we spike Bulls Managements drinks and convince them of trading him to us for Shumpert and Frye. They'll never know what hit them.

JR really has become a huge part of the team. If we really want anyone I feel he's the guy we go AllIn on.

Wade for the TPE after Whiteside, Johnson, and Deng bolt and Dragic demands a trade..
Wishful thinking, eh? [emoji1]

I'm not a big Wade fan, but my goodness would he look good in wine and gold. I just can't see it happening by any means, I believe he retires in Miami.

I mean, crazier things have happened, and Wade and the Heat front office haven't exactly been on the greatest terms. Not to mention, the Heat are screwed when it comes to the cap and the fact Chris Bosh is making so much when his career may just about be over considering his health concerns.

I think there is a slim chance, just because it makes sense when you put it all together, but at the same time I can't see Wade ever leaving Miami, even if Bron called and said come on over.

As far as the two guard goes.. it's gonna be Swish.

JR probably gets offered 3 years, $8M. He rejects, Cavs counter with 3 years (final year team option), $10M per.

I think that gets it done. At least I hope. Maybe he gets an additional few million, but it's likely in that ballpark. He's earned it.

JR's going to get more than $10 Mil. I guarantee that. He's put together two really good years and has proven himself to be a solid defender. If Shump got $10 mil, JR is worth far more, especially with the inflated cap.

You have to think though, Bob, is JR going to be the same JR somewhere else?

Let's face it. He's much more valuable here in Cleveland than anywhere else because this group of guys, mainly Bron keeps his head on straight.

Sure, some team could overpay him to keep him away from us, but will it be worth it for that team to not only overpay, but have JR without the guidance of a LeBron James, or a James Jones type veteran player?

I just find it hard to believe. I think JR gets a nice raise, and he signs for 3, maybe 4 years.

I don't see Dan and Griff letting this guy go, and I'm thrilled with that idea.

After seeing the love JR got, the way he felt about it, he's never leaving.

I think we could offer him 5 mil/year and he'd eventually take it.

He loves Cleveland/Ohio's people for the love he's gotten.

Can't believe how much I love JR Smith.. seriously, it's like bizarro world. 3 yrs and $36 mill is more than fair for what he brings to the Cavs.

I love JR. I think you can just offer him the exact same deal that you gave Iman Shumpert last offseason and he'll take it. The 4th year helps, and JR's game will age well.

There's no way JR goes chasing dollars over Cleveland after what we just witnessed. Let me point to a rather poignant quote from his post-game presser:

"The cars are nice, the houses are nice but none of this matters without [my parents]."

Sure, it's directed at his parents. But JR's presser spoke volumes of the kind of character he truly is deep down. And I have no doubt in my mind that what this team (and LeBron) gave to him (in terms of opportunity and belief) and what he gave back to them has become a perfect basketball marriage that is almost impossible to be spoiled by more money or an alternative challenge.

And yes, he's become a champion. But in Cleveland, he's become something more valuable: a better person.

He just seems very happy, and content with who and where he is. That can be a hard thing to find, and i think he's smart enough to know that.

And i still think other teams are going to view his performance here as situationally dependent. Spend significant money on him, and you may not get the guy you think you're getting.

It's one of those situations where it just takes too much sense for him to stay.
