Why didn't we go after...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Plus, AK47 isn't a ring chaser. He's still young.

Look, I'm sure Danny Boy pursued everyone that he thought would help the team. He simply wasn't willing to part with core assets. He wanted to make a deal around wally's expiring, which teams such as the Clippers, Wizards and Suns should have been eager to acquire decided to stand pat.

I think if this year's deadline taught us anything it's that teams weren't as desperate to cut payroll as we thought they'd be. Hopefully we'll remember this next winter when everyone's up in arms that we can't get a starter for Ben's expiring contract. Of course that is before The Summer, so I imagine even the GMs will be caught up in the hype of cap space.

From Chad Ford:

The Nets were very close to moving Carter at the deadline. How close? One source told me the Nets agreed to send two future firsts (Dallas' and Golden State's) along with Carter to the Blazers for Raef LaFrentz. The Blazers, however, turned them down.

Expect the Nets to pick up the trade talks again this summer. They need to clear Carter's salary off their books.

Now I know Wally's expiring isn't as valuable as Lafrentz's was, but wow. If we could have made a deal of Wally for VC and GS's 1st round pick (or even a swap of first rounders)....how could we have turned that down?

I saw that in another thread Lyuokdea. I can only imagine it wasn't offered our way because we are in the same conference. I can't even believe the Blazers turned that down. Sounds a little like a witch hunt on Kevin Pritchard.

I don't think the information in that trade rumor betwen NJ and Portland is correct, quite frankly. I mean, NJ flatly rejected a Wally and a second from us, for Carter.

So, I just can't see them throwing around two high picks along with Carter, for an expiring. It just doesn't add up, logically.

You have to watch what the news sources have out thee in trade rumors. They never had one of the deals that we were ever dicussing mentioned in the right context at the deadline.

The way it usually ends up working is like this ....the player agents contact their friends in the media and tell them what teams they know are talking to each other. From there, the media tries to figure out on their own, what deals they think they may be talking about.

What you end up getting is what the reporters themselves end up thinking might happen by them just speculating by filling in blanks...

I think they're pretty far off on the NJ/Portland side of the ledger. If NJ was sending back picks, it would have had to have been because some players were included on the Portland side as well.

I wouldnt want him anyways he is WAY over paid.

Wow if true I really wish that we had gotten that deal lol. I like that we offered though, thanks W&G. I hope we can still get VC though because even if he only plays Ben Wallace minutes he would still be a better option than Wally.
