"Wild Thing" a nobody???

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I will pay AV what he wants before I wil pay Drew Gooden 9 or 10 million dollars

AV brings what we need and I say that as a Drew Gooden supporter

If we want to win in the fututre we need to pay guys what they deserve and AV deserves more than 800,000 that is for sure

when i was in detroit in september to see a tigers game....the city is awful
you know how all citys have that one bad part of town with run down buildings and bums and stuff like that?
well there isnt 1 specific area like that in detroit....because thats the whole city. and im not even exagerating on that one.

AV is a nobody. As Mac said, they either don't know his name or can't pronounce it. The good news is he is becoming somebody.....bad news is we are going to have to pay him like somebody too. And the worst news - he hired the agent from hell in the last couple months.
Tellem?

I posted this the week he hired the new agent- talk about a red flag  ...unfortunately the response here on the board was "ho-hum". I believe this will bite us in the ass pretty soon, especially now that AV's getting national media attention in the playoffs. Not that I'd change a thing about his play, he has been freaking awesome, I was just hoping we'd be able to keep him under the radar longer.

• Anderson Varejao has changed his agent, hiring Dan Fegan...Fegan is known for picking up new clients as they consider becoming free agents. Called the ``Scott Boras of the NBA'' in the past, Fegan has built a reputation for driving a hard bargain, and some people say he leads all NBA agents in commission earnings.

...anyone else see a potential problem here?

Fegan is the worst...THE WORST! He was the one involved with the T-Wolves/JSmith scandal. He also was telling Arenas not to pass Kwame the ball last year b/c Kwame wouldn't sign with him. He got pinched at a basketball camp last year giving FedEx envelopes full of $1000 to amateurs. He also talked Stephen Jackson out of a contract extention with Spurs and to take a one year deal with Atlanta. The guy is a world class asshole and a nightmare cfor GM's. He will have Anderson holding out for every last nickel. Fegan reps Anderson's brother Sandro in Brazil....that's how he got hooked up with him.

I felt like I got sucker-punched when I read that. :puke:

Hey! A brazilian newbie here! Hope to bring some AV info to you guys! I showed that article to my friend and he decided to write to the reporter. Take a look:

"Mrs. Gerstner,

I think you don't know Anderson Varejão. I think you don't know he was Euroleague Champion with Barcelona F.C.. Anderson is 23 years old and, believe me, his game will grow up a lot. The funniest thing is that his game against the Detroit Pistons is not surprising anyone in Brazil, Ohio or Spain. Maybe, on your arrogant view, you couldn't research about his career and see he has never been a bust or a "no-name". Research, edit and write correctly with ethic, without judging or criticizing someone you don't know about. THIS is journalism.

Cavaliers 86 x 84 Pistons, today at The Palace. I think Cavs' players are PhD on "shutting arrogant people up".

Surprisingly she answered!

"Ivan -

Appreciate your thoughts. It's all about context. He is a no-name, in terms of the NBA. But not anymore, Anderson's play is getting him known in the United States.

I think you need a little perspective too. Nobody in the North America knows, cares, or even sees the Euroleague. Therefore writing about his career there means nothing to my readers. The Euroleague is perceived, rightly or wrongly, as the place where players who couldn't make it in the NBA go to play.

I write with research, ethics and care. I am sorry if you do not see it that way, but your bias as a Brazilian comes through. Being called a no-name isn't an insult. It's just a statement of fact for where Anderson was. He's certainly making a very strong impression.

I look forward to visiting your country on vacation in November, and Anderson has been kind enough to give me a few wonderful places to visit.

Take care.

I definitely agree that people in Ohio/Brazil/Spain already knew what a special player we have in AV. He isn't a scorer (how some ppl define "star" ) so that has helped keep him under the radar.

The fact that other people see him as a "no-name" doesn't bother me at all! Let 'em think that...face it, if Detroit built their game plan around defending "Lebron James and Anderson Varejao" the series might already be over! We're going to ride this horse until someone proves they can slow him down!

Anderson needs to stop flopping so much though, he is going to lose the respect of the refs. Other than that, he has been fantastic.
