As you know, Kobe picked up his 5th technical foul of the playoffs in the first half of Game 1 against Denver. If he continues at that rate (one every 2.6 games), he would pick up a 7th technical toward the end of this series or during the finals. And that would result in an automatic 1-game suspension.

So, the question is: will he pick up that 7th technical foul this post-season?

My guess is that he will get to 6, and a smart coach will guard him with the most chippy and annoying defender on the floor, so that at least he has to live in frustration for the remaining games. A really smart coach will send in a veteran smart enough to draw a double technical on a contested rebound. Or a flopper who can sell a technical foul that won't be rescinded. :chuckles:

My question would be what happens on the 8th and 9th tech. If I am phil jackson and the lakers take care of home, I would probably have him get his 6th and 7th in the first game in Denver. I would rather be 2-2 then than take a chance on not having Bryant for game 6 or 7.

With that said Kobe has done a horrible job managing his emotions. I really think this will become a mute point, I see Denver winning this series either way.

My question would be what happens on the 8th and 9th tech.

In the regular season, every technical foul past the regular season limit results in a one game suspension without pay. My guess would be that the same rule applies in the playoffs (7th T = 1 game suspension, 8th T = 1 game suspension, etc.).

Otherwise, you could have players picking up 13 Ts in the playoffs and only getting suspended once, which is not what the NBA is after.

Kobe needs to stop bitching and crying about everything, keep it together and keep playing. I hate when superstars do that (LeBron included sometimes). To be fair to LeBron, he does get hit more than someone like Kobe or D-Wade though.

This is supposed to be the leader of this team? Five technicals and a flagrant-1 through 13 games?

Does anybody have the T rule? I would assume that it is every 2 after because the playoffs is so important on an individual game basis. I hope he gets suspended. Whatever it takes to face Denver instead of LA.

I bet David Stern would make an exception this one time for Kobe if they make it to the Finals.

im sure once or IF he gets to that 6 technical, he will take an easy because Lakers w/o Kobe are the Fakers, lead by Derek Fisher

He'll have 6 Technicals, and in game 6 of the Finals against us, we sub in TK and tell him to just make Kobe get another T. TK proceeds to slab Kobe in the face, and Kobe freaks out. And gets suspended for game 7.

Lesson for the day, the word you wanted was moot, not mute.
