Wizards to sign PG Boykins

The injury-hit Washington Wizards have turned to veteran guard Earl Boykins to bolster their depleted backcourt, sources told ESPN.com.

The formal signing of Boykins to a one-year minimum deal for the rest of the season will be announced later Wednesday, according to sources with knowledge of the Wizards' thinking.

Sources said that Washington (2-6) targeted Boykins to help them survive an injury crisis that has felled Randy Foye (ankle), Javaris Crittenton (foot) and Mike James (hand) in the backcourt alone.
