He came to Los Angeles as the ringless Ron Artest and, after being waived via the amnesty clause, leaves L.A. as former champion Metta World Peace.

The Los Angeles Lakers officially parted ways with World Peace on Thursday night in an NBA luxury tax-cutting measure that will mean approximately $14 million in savings for the team.

I think his waiver period expired at 5 pm. When do we find out if anyone put an amnesty bid in. I wouldn't be surprised if we at least made a min salary bid.

World Peace is crazy as hell, but he wouldn't be a horrible guy to throw a minimum contract at for a year. He's still a vicious defender, has played for Brown, and can backup both SF and PF.

it's just a ploy to get people to not bid on him. The teams he wants to play for are over the cap, thus not allowed to bid. He's not walking away from $7.7 million, which he loses if he's claimed and doesn't play.
