Shaun Livingston Medical Update

Los Angeles Clippers guard Shaun Livingston had his left knee re-examined on Thursday, March 6 by Dr. James Andrews in San Francisco. Dr. Andrews issued the following statement regarding the current status of Livingston’s recovery:

"I evaluated Shaun yesterday in San Francisco. He has developed a lot of muscle return and recovery in the knee. The stability of the knee looks excellent. We are still holding him back from competitive play because he has developed some tendinitis about his knee, which will require approximately four more weeks to settle down. We will re-evaluate him at that time to see if he's able to undergo some high level basketball activity at the end of the season. We still expect a full recovery, but it is time related."

Livingston was originally injured during the first quarter of the Clippers win over the Charlotte Bobcats on February 26, 2007 at STAPLES Center, when he suffered tears to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), medial collateral ligament (MCL) and lateral meniscus. Livingston also suffered a patella dislocation, in addition to a tibia/femoral dislocation. Andrews performed the surgery to repair the injuries on March 13, 2007 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham.

Good thing he is young huh?

If I were him, I'd start wearing one of these in fear of dislocating my knee again.

That thing doesn't look awkward at all...In fact, who wouldn't want to ball with one of those on ?

That actually kinda looks like Livingston's leg. Maybe not so much in shape but more in coloring. I'm sure he'd adapt well.

Dr James Andrews is one of the best sports doctors, if not "the" best in the entire world. The guy has saved a lot of careers.

I still cringe whenever I remember how it happened. It looked like he had no hope in recovering. Glad to know that he's recovering. I hope nobody posts that YouTube vid of it here.

LBJ48...protect my balls. Possibly the greatest SP episode in history. If not that, then the WOW one.

It sure is. They should make a 2nd part of it in 12th season. I can't stop watching it. It never gets old.

BTW, Scott Tenorman Must Die is the greatest episode of all time. :D

I'm not sure i'd even want to come back after that grusome injury... good to see though..

The joys of being young :)

That knee might be fine, but I'm sure he'll probably need microfracture or some other procedure on the other one within probably 5 years or so. There will have to be some overcompensation.

I just don't see anyone getting back to 100% after something like that, it's disgusting. Up there with the top 10 gross sports injuries of all time.

^^^ I vowed after the first time I saw it to never watch it again and I am sticking to it. :scared:

that was easily the grossest injury i've ever seen in sports. Although Allen Ray's eye being poked out on the court was pretty gruesome too.
