Yahoo's Top Power Forwards

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, because JJ lead the team to 61 wins.He fit into our offensive scheme(or lack thereof) thats why he started.

Would you normally start a player that can't shoot and can't score in the post?
He has a long way to go.
I'm completely fine with him starting on our team this year, and i think he's going to be legit in the future.

The only thing i disagree with you and Stereo is that he's already at the stage where you could consider him a legit starter.Yes,he starts for the Cavs. How many teams do you think he would start over their current power forward?

Would you normally call a 21-22 year old a "fringe starter"? Normally you reserve judgement like that until players have proven themselves one way or another.

J.J still has a lot of development in him, to call him anything at this point is stupid.

I find fringe to be the perfect definition because he's so young and because these are the writer's expectations/rankings for next year. You can't really expect a lot from him but at the same time you don't really know what you're going to get with him starting. Once a guy has proved what he can do, he's no longer a fringe starter. At that point you'd call him good or bad.

lol @ you loling at that.
He's got to develop more.
Let him get his stats and get a bigger role and as he progresses then he'll be more a legit-starter.
i think everyone here knows JJ isn't going to be an All-Star this season.

Everyone knows he needs to develop, but he's come quite a way since being in the NBA. Can't hate on him, all the guy does is hustle on both ends of the floor, he does need to improve but have some faith that MAYBE he could be an all-star. :dunno:

Not sure why people are getting upset. JJ has loads of potential, and maybe, a couple of years from now, he will shoot up these rankings. But since this is the writer's prediction for NEXT YEAR ONLY, 26th is about right.

I didn't have a problem with Fringe starter because you have to start somewhere. The issue is that he says "replace him if you can" That is just silly because he is developing. These are the things I saw from JJ that made me think he is a capable starter: He dunked on Wade and Howard, he drove past Garnett, and he didn't take us out of any games. This dude has confidence, and that is exactly what a young guy with his talents needs. He shoots a very high fg%. He can finish well around the basket. He stood up to some pretty intimidating guys on Defense. He made plenty of mistakes, but the only guy that I thought could consistently get by him was Howard. He was also able to guard guys out to the 3 point line, which we could have desperately used in that series against Orlando.

I have no problem with his positing at 26th either. I am surprised he was there. I will tell you what though. If we had traded him for Amare, I think Lebron might have left anyway. Then we would have lost Amare, JJ, and Lebron.

These statements weren't directed at you, Butter. It is more a clarification of my position. I just wanted to address the fringe starter thing.

While i dont think he is a fringe starter in term of his potential production and his value. The simple fact is either he or antawn will start at the 4 so by deffinition he is a fringe starter.

One thing i would add, the more the media undervalue him the better his story will be and the more exposure the current cavs squad will get as the season progresses. That is good for marketing and tickets, two things that are going to take a massive hit.

Blake Griffen? Please let the guy play a game first, I am not impressed with someone who hasn't played a game. I think he will be a good player, but like I said let him play a game.

As for JJ, well I think he is ranked about right. He is as unpolished as it gets and truly is an unknown. Personally I think he is due to break out, but I understand sceptecism.

Lol @ calling JJ a fringe starter you'd prefer to replace.

That's exactly what he was last season, and that's exactly what happened when the playoffs rolled around. JJ made a lot of progress last season, and while we see him stepping up his game, other folk are certainly free not to assume it'll happen.

True, but a lot of people thought he was a matchup problem for the Celtics, including the Celtics coaches. We let an old Celtics team run on us, when we should have run on them.
