After reports a Hong Kong-based company is set to take a minority share in the the Cleveland Cavaliers, people in China predict that Yao Ming will join LeBron James.

"It's very clear that the Cavaliers' next step is to buy Yao Ming," one netizen said on Sina.com. "And then to win the league championship, and then to build a Cavaliers' dynasty!"

"It's a big market, they love the game of basketball," James told Cleveland's Plain Dealer newspaper.

"I've been over there the last four or five summers, and I know how much they are inspired about the game of basketball. So it could be good. It should be fun."

If Yao could stay healthy for a full season and postseason then i would be 100% for this but he has been injured for the last 3-4 seasons and having an injury prone player isnt apart of our agenda.

:chuckles:

I stopped reading after someone suggested "buying Yao Ming." That might fly in your country...

We wont have the money to afford him. Unless he takes the MLE and the Chinese owners slide him about 8 mil a year under the table. :chuckles:

That has to be one tall table...

Just sayin.. I don't think those asian guys will be able to see over the table... :chuckles:

Eh, it's the same scenario as Chris Bosh. If we can go for him, we can go for Yao.

My only issue is what everyone else is saying. If we had Yao, we'd need to have a backup big that could step into the limelight and put some points on the board if yao misses games.

I think Yao is the type of player who while he can be a leader, he isn't meant to carry a team nor is he meant to be the first scoring option on the team. That's what he's been trying to do in Houston and why he's gotten so many injuries.

I think he's less injury prone than Z and if he played along side Lebron, he wouldn't have anywhere near as much weight to carry on his back and he wouldn't be in the situations where he gets injured.

I would say definitely get him if it's possible!

Yao would be great if he could stay healthy. Tall task though. He would play very few minutes here though IMO.

Yao basically replaces Zydrunas as the next Cavs center, but that's not even feasible...

He is the Rockets' franchise player, so wasting my breath on trying to get him based on excited Chinese fans wants seems too stupid to debate.

But he does give the team something, if they were to try to get him. His size and weight makes him rather unmatched in the post and provides strong defense without ever jumping. And he's always an 18-9-2 threat regardless of his health.

But right now, Yao's career is taking the same path that Z's took back when he started out from 1996-2002. That spells disaster, because he had the same damn injury that Z suffered with the foot. Before his career is over, the Chinese might have to realize that "Chinese Medicine" isn't always an answer to such a dilemma. The path that Z took ended up saving his career, so I wouldn't be surprised if Yao either loses his career due to this... or has the same foot restructure to save it.

Right now, Z still has a decent couple of years, even without mobility. But if Yao were to go the same path, I'd bet he could get a little further and stay a little more dominant due to his size and weight. Being slow would be a problem for Yao too, but he has a slightly higher reach.

But let's be serious:

Yao's health is at the same point that Z's was, pre-surgery. His value is still too high for the Cavs to afford, even with that fact.

Let's find someone else that offers a little more to the table health-wise while Z's still around. The Cavs will find a future without Z... but it won't be easy nor Yao-infested.
