Young 3rd string Center

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ah, so one and done meant one year in college.

Right.

That is a phrase used to describe certain college players that will stay just one year in college before declaring for the NBA draft. With every HS senior class people speculate which prospects could be "one and done" candidates and Cousins is one of them.

I thought he might be so bad he will be out of the NBA after a year. :D

I'd like to toss out the idea of going after DeAndre Jordan. He's got a larrrrrrrge upside.

The international market and international prospects are an area we should also pay attention to. I have a feeling this is where the Cavs might end up going to find a young C to bring in. Picking late 1st round it's usually rare to be able to get an American college C who's capable of developing into a starter. International players can be found in that area of the draft.
Unfortunately it's tough for us to get a great read on these players since we can only go by scouting reports and video clips.

I think this is changing. With the maturation of the int'l game and scouting, coupled with the improving pay in Europe, it's tough to get some hidden gem late in the first round who will actually want to come over to the US for the money being offered at their draft slot.

That's certainly true for recent first round picks but that isn't the case with second round picks or for first round picks signed with cap space after three years passes. However I think people were talking about free agents. There are some decent free agents available from time to time from Europe that are a lot less expensive than NBA free agents.

Tough break for Kaun: Center Sasha Kaun, who the Cavs drafted in the second round in 2008, has had a bit of a rough summer dealing with some back problems. After a promising rookie season with CSKA Moscow, one of the top teams in Europe, the former Kansas star was set to be a part of the Russian National Team in the European Championships in Poland this month. But Kaun started feeling some pain and Alexander Chernykh, an excellent Russian basketball journalist, tells us that Kaun has been diagnosed with a herniated disc. Right now doctors are advising him to rest and so he was unable to play for Russia in Poland. Kaun is still under contract for two more years in Moscow, but there is a chance he could examine coming to the Cavs next year because of an out clause in his contract.

After that tidbit Douglar, I highly doubt we ever give him another look.
