First, I'm not part of the Cavs marketing department, although this thread is prompted by the ads Cavs.com is running about showing season ticket buyers seats on May 24.

There has been a lot of talk the past year about how 2011-2012 would reflect a big dip in season ticket sales. And that the Q would be half empty this coming year. We know that the value of the franchise took a serious dive, although that's all an estimate and not a real loss at this point. And of course the economy is making a big dent on all extra expenditures.

All that said, now that the Cavs have landed two high draft picks, and the excitement level has increased, I'm wondering if that may stem the tide a bit. Dan Gilbert was asked about ticket sales after the draft lottery and did not show his hand. I think he said they were going well already and left it at that.

I'm curious about what crowds will look like next year. Will season ticket holders that left or were on the fence think about coming back? Do other fans expect to go to more or less games next year than in 2011-2012? Does it depend more on other factors such as whether the team shows promising signs at the start or other factors (like the economy or ticket prices).

As for me, I'm hoping to go to a few more games than last year so I can see the progress of rebuilding. Counting down already, to be honest.

I'm usually away at college during the regular season so I can't get to many games. However I just graduated a couple of weeks ago so I'm hoping to get to quite a few games this year. Right now I'm looking for a job, if I land one with a decent salary I very well might end up buying season tickets.

I imagine the second biggest challenge for the Cavs sales department will be to sell season tickets to corporate buyers.

And the first biggest challenge, of course, will be uncertainty around the potential lockout.

I took over the tickets from my Dad this season and renewed the seats for our 42nd consecutive year. It's been a fun ride over the last few years and I thought we owed it to them to give them another couple years to turn it around. So far so good in my opinion. I plan on seeing what seats are available Monday and seeing if we can move up closer to the court and get on an aisle at the same time.

42! That kicks ass. Your RCF name suggests that you have been in it for the long haul.

I have had season tickets with my Dad for the past 6 years. I tried convincing him to renew for this upcoming season, but he didn't want to, and I cannot afford the payment on my own. So unfortunately, we cancelled our season tickets.

But I still plan on going to at least 10 games or so. I am sure cheap tickets will be easy to find for pretty much every game.

Will never buy season tickets again after they made everyone re-up with no discount last year without Lebron signed on. That was it for me. No more will I pad the wallets of spoiled brats.

RCF is thinking about buying 2 season tickets...

I had a similar experience. I had a small season ticket package to a full package for about 5 years straight, but after Lebron's last year and with me going to school full time, I cancelled. I will go to some games this year, but I doubt I will do the season ticket package again after my poor experience with their staff during last season.

Yea the name is def after Bobby Phills. He was my underdog hero when he was the 12th man on those early 90s Cavs teams.
